Though I respect Strider's wit and 'tude... I'm rather torn between Harley and Egbert. Where Dave and Rose are trying to be ironic, funny, and so on... Jade and John don't try... they just make spectacles of themselves. I guess Jade, ultimately, because she's got the whole Prescient Shennanigans thing... and she seems rather well-adjusted for having a taxadermied grandpa.

I was a bit torn between Dave and John but went Dave. Mostly because when TA started 'trolling' him he just responded "don't care" and was totally ignoring him in favour of SBaHJ.

No, Grandpa only died later. He was alive and well in the flashback when Jade got her birthday present from John. Jade's meteor only destroyed the Betty Crocker bakery, it didn't kill anyone we know of.

 Yeah, seconding the John vote. Just something about the everyman in the comic. Although a close second is Rose for her similar normality.

Went with Dave, not so much for all the counter-trolling awesomeness and so forth, but because he strikes me as the most stable and well-adjusted of the lot.  All of them started off with their "reverse relationship" myopia with their families - John irritated by his father while thinking him cool, Rose hating her mother for trying (poorly) to be nice to her, Jade and her not-living grandfather, and Dave admiring his Bro who kicks the shit out of him.  And then all the insanity of Skaia started.  But through all that, Dave seemed to be acutely aware all along of just how a thin a facade all this stuff was.  He's unfazable and astute, and does let himself take shit from anybody.

So yeah, Dave is just damn funny and not completely out of his mind like everyone else.
