It's only those who NEED glasses that got them, not those who wear them. Bro and Dave have none, so it's probably just checking for genetic signs of near/farsightedness.

Also the four chose don't seem to fit into anything else thus far... some are guardians, some are dead(or at least supposedly so in grandpa's case...)

That's possible, although I kind of doubt it. Deciding plot-critical details on a whim is kind of Andrew's thing, you know? Like WV being a mayor, caused by the user command creating Can Town, and leading to a civic theme for all the other exiles.

It's a bit extremely confusing, but it seems the kids were created by the game from some combination of nanna, grandpa, bro, and mom.
