Finally, today's update.

Lots of interesting stuff. But there's one thing that's most important.

The ship! It is afloat! It sails!

Have we seen any other giant captchalogue cards?

I mean other than Slick's safe.

I don't think we've seen other giant captchalogue cards but we've seen other stone cards, in the mail delivery system on LOWAS.

The ship! It is afloat! It sails!

Sails?  It fucking soars.  They're practically on the verge of cybering.  Hell, they kinda are with all the insecure intellectualism going on, especially this one.  But hey, Kanaya finally says some really interesting stuff too-

GA: Like A Very Clear Mirror
GA: That Has Everything There Is To See Inside It
GA: But Only Some Things Are Visible At Any Given Moment
GA: I Always Trusted It
GA: And I Dont Trust Gods That Would Eschew Its Light

Adds a profound dynamic to their relationship, however ethereal, and in ways far beyond just game-stat alignments.  Also gives some real insight into the game itself - I always suspected that the "Light = Good/Save Them vs Dark = Mean/Fight Them" setup was just window dressing and that the morality of the game's stage conflict was meaningless if even extent.  I'm starting to be proven wrong.

We also have a good idea for why updates take the times they do.  I noticed a while ago that the updates usually come later in the day depending on how many WORDS there are, and this one certainly takes the cake.  Combined with several very detailed panels (complete with DNA motifs), no wonder this one didn't drop until well into the morning.

Yup. The ship's official. Rose just pointed out that Kanaya had kind of started moirailing her. Kanaya doesn't seem too excited about it, though.

I totally voted for Feferi.

Filthy lies :P I know I did, and there's only one vote on her.

Hey, the sounds a bit interesting, what do you think it is?

And yes, the ship has definitely sailed, or at least enough for the fanartists.

Well, the fanartists don't really need encouragement. It's been real for them for months.

Also, I'm seeing some further implications with Rose's dream memories from the bad future. People from dead timelines are doomed. Rose hasn't died yet. Does that mean that she's going to?

Also we need a new poll. Exposition by Troll Andrew: Canon or not?

As Kanaya pointed out, the part of Rose that's from the future is intangible.  Specifically, Rose and everything about her is still of the "Alpha" timeline (thanks for the new terminology, Hussie), except for some of her memories gained from kinda sorta merging Dreamselfs when Future-Dave traveled back to the present.  In other words, part of her mind is from the dead timeline.  In other words, part of her mind is doomed, if not dead, which certainly fits her new sparkling personality.

yay, the outcome of the story hasn't been predecided! There is a black stain over Rose's timeline!

That fact alone makes this update the best in a very, VERY long time.

Either that or there is something that blocks Kanayas view or Rose ceases to exist somehow.

That would be nice if only a portion of herself was going to perish, but no, that isn't the case.

Rose is going to die. Not part of her mind. All of her.

What explanation is there for Kanaya being unable to see Rose after a certain point on her timeline? If Rose were to somehow die and switch to her dreamself, Kanaya wouldn't be able to see her because Trollian does not have a function to view dreamselves. And we've already seen something like this happen to the trolls, twice.

Doomed timelines play hardball, I guess.

The end has always been in flux. One of the fun, happy side effects of the Scratch. Rose's viewport just goes blank before the others. Which, as Kanaya mentioned, is more than a little bit ominous.

ToonyMan, where do you go looking for fan art? You've got pics in your photobucket account I haven't seen looking at just the MSPA forums.
