To answer your question: what made it funny was how fast we transitioned to it ("later there was a cave in"), and watching the normally unflappably angry Karkat freak the fuck out.  It would be a lot sadder (that is to say, sad at all) if we didn't already know Sollux turns out reasonably alright in the end.

Actually it was the Karkat thing that sealed it for me. I was like, holy shit, Karkat is crying? And worried about someone? The guy who told a recently paralyzed friend to "stop playing games for girls, asshole"? Yeah, it was srs bsns right there.

Karkat/Sollux OTP. Forget Terezi, Sollux is what Karkat needs!

That's four disputably canon arrangements (not including Josephus ♥ Sollux).  Not bad for a grouchy super-bipolar-inferior sperglord.  And the grand complication to all of them is that Sollux seems to be at most peripherally aware of any of them, and in Aradia's case even a little resentful (although probably not originally).

I think they'll just bring him back to life. I mean, they COULD. His kernelsprite is hovering RIGHT THERE. He doesn't look like a sprite in the future, so that didn't happen, but bringing the dead back to life is what this game is all about.

Which reminds me, I'm still kind of hoping Dream Jade will make a comeback. If Jade protypes her sprite with her dead dream self, does that mean that she will BECOME the sprite every time she goes to sleep?
