There was a picture of him in one of the flashes. This sprite wasn't shown in the flash but it was found in the flash's files.

Aw, that looks cool.  I assume it's AR using crockertech.  Impossible now I guess, unless...  The AR or both could be from a doomed timeline, like Davesprite was.  Dirk's not pictured here, after all (big hal confirmed).

So, Vriska saved the teenage meteor comedy soap? I like seeing those fictional characters being happy.

But I still don't really like it as it's a continuation of Terezi's master retcon plan that, I remind you, went like this:

1. Pretend to do subtle, intricate, arcane manipulation of the continuity line
2. Then just force Vriska back alive with brutest possible force
3. ???
4. Profit!

I was amused, but also bummed out by that. I like Terezi a lot and I thought she was going to pull a masterpiece of manipulation and mindgame herself, into finding a third option. It looked like that for a while. But no, knuckles to the face, Vriska's back: Everything's better.

Now, Vriska's a great character, sure. Fun to like and/or dislike. The only reason I don't really like to see her is the way she was rubbed all over my face, eyes and open mouth during the whole huge Act 5. Ursurping both the protagonist and antagonist role. Leeching away what little initiative John had on his own. Just too much, man. But I have trouble seeing how somebody as notoriously toxic as her can drastically improve group dynamics. Especially since her pre-death character development was mostly "I found killing that guy I like and engineering the doom of two universes wasn't much fun at all BUT I'M NOT SORRY."
Now, sure, if she keeps Gamzee under her iron thumb that will fix almost everything wrong with the Alpha Kids' session. But narratively that's less her merit and more that of the investigation retcon, where the cloun suddenly turned from a force that can meet Vriska and Eridan in a threeway high-noon face-off to a complete chewtoy. But seeing Gamzee suffer is funny, I'm not going to complain.

And, sure, her presence may keep Terezi from turning herself into a wreck. But the scourge sister friendship wasn't very good for anybody even tangentially involved, before. And everything that changed was Vriska's slight development and John's right hook. The retconning is supposed to be the turning point there, but the way it happened I just don't believe it.

And I can see Vriska antagonizing Rose about her drinking. I just can't see Rose listening to her.

As for the implied Dave♥Karkat, I'm absolutely fine with that and I would actually welcome, hail and embrace it if it didn't screw with the flawless perfection of their platonic friendship.

We thought Jade and Jane were dead when they were hanging out with Calliope (well, I assumed they were).  But then it turned out that Vriska had just put them to sleep.

My memory of Act 6 is spotty like an old map, but I believe it was pre-retcon, narratively. Revealing Vriska's return before we see how John did it. Jane had that whole spiel about that daring rebel leader maverick.

It may just be bacause he grew on me more when they were first introduced, but I kinda preferred Gamzee's brand of fuckery to Vriska's. At least he was consistant and entertaining. There has never been a moment where Vriska has existed and not at least tried to be Mary Sue as fuck. She's almost already the dancestor caricature of herself.

To be fair Hussie's idea on writing Vriska is pretty much an Anti-Sue taken down a few notches and made more realistic. (Or not, depending on opinions.)

I love Gamzee's fuckery. The moment where he almost casually, with a quiet, affable satisfaction, puts Vriska and Tavros corpses into the same kernelsprite, is one of my favourite moments from the entire comic. It's so magnificiently, bluntly, ironic-hell-like evil. And you need to have read several thousand pages to understand why.
But I still like it a lot when he gets assault-rifle'd for three pages.

Vriska is more complicated but similiar. She is actually far more consistent than Gamzee, who alternatingly acts for the lulz, for his dark masters, out of supposed insanity, because he's a rap clown etc etc. Vriska does what she does because she is that child beating a frying pan with a big metal spoon screaming "Look at me!". She was an insuffferable bitch with special snowflake powers, but it was very consistently potrayed how her behaviour had put her into a pariah position, and how it eventually killed her even though her best friend tried, in the end, very hard to keep her alive. I think Vriska's arc was worth it. The only real problems I have is
1. with how much of the plot she dominated (How much of the troll drama would've happened, could've happened if young Terezi had stabbed Vriska a sweep earlier? Pretty much only Gamzee randomly getting off the juice and into violent murder mode, and the whole Eridan debacle that went nowhere[but removed some useless trolls from the story, so, worth it]) .
2. with how much time and life she sucked out of John. Not that John was ever very proactive, but he could've had some growth on his own(... which he only now sorta got). Instead he got yanked around by a metaphorical leash for all of Act 5. Their logs were still entertaining, but nowhere as good or interesting as Dave and Terezi's.
