I'm laying down my bet that it's one of the cat trolls. Because Tezeri's scarf tells John to give one of THEM the ring, in all likelihood.

It's bout gotta be Vriska.

I mean... We did just see John knocking her out with a well-timed Egbert punch. She's probably going to be alive now in the timeline and primed to do damage.

I swear, if John broke her neck because of Mangrit...

"the curtains closed early" :
One version of John got blown the hell up by Typheus. Sounds like a curtain call to me.
Traits:

Bold:
D'uh. John will go into any situation with nary a thought towards inherent danger.
Wily:
John's prankstery bullshit is surpassed by no one. Seems wily to me.
"Blind spot"
John literally exists outside causality at this point. There is no Blinder Spot than the one which John Egbert, presumed dead, is standing in.
"not about to take the verdict of paradox space lying down.":

And he re-wrote causality (with Terezi's help) specifically to overturn paradox space's verdict.
Plucky:
Checkarooni.

Though I suppose there are several characters that fit the bill, John is Player One. This is important stuff. Also, he's the designated friend-leader. I find it difficult to believe that most of the trolls would rally behind Vriska's leadership.

Of course, this is all just my opinion.

I'm unsure about the blind spot thing. The Condesce would expect John to be there because he appears in all the documentation she uses to make her plans. His failure to exist would ordinarily render it a doomed timeline, since it's inconsistent with the causality loops that generate Lord English, and it's only the fact that his presence retcons it into continuity that will permit it to persist.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

"Firebrand personality"?

...I am willing to accept that one. John only ever really gets fired up when it's time to beat a fool (Bec Noir, Caliborn, Vriska).

I'm almost sure it's Vriska.

I deeply hope it's Equius. He's the only other one who's even plausible.

It's Hussie's author avatar. Clearly.

(I personally hope for WV because carapace chess people are cool but Equius would be funnier[he likes horses])

I'd love for it to be Equius or Nepeta, though Tavros would be about as likely (sick firebrands, bro).  The revisionism part has me convinced that it's Vriska, or possibly John.
