Ten bucks says that's actually Tavros' denizen, masquerading as Vriska. Although the text would certainly seem to indicate otherwise. He passed the seventh gate, there should be a large, terrifying monster in there.

He went through a gate on the ground. John went through a gate in the sky. Was Vriska lying about the gate number so Tavros would assume she was trying to get her killed and not scheming something else?

Really, this whole situation is hilarious. I think Vriska is going to forcibly wake Tavros up. That is sleeping powder. And now she'll fly over to his Prospit Tower and slap him until he gets up. Actually, she's probably camping at his Prospit Tower right now, and already tried slapping him awake.
