As I have been so frequently lately, I am filled with approval.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Also, trolls have two different terms for rat? or does one of them mean mouse and Terezi does not especially care about keeping her metaphors straight?

Probably that second thing.
Or maybe one of them was the Alternian term for 'rat' and the other was a description of a rat?

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

Dirk just turns around and sheathes the katana as the ring to fall apart in a dozen pieces.

For gods sake Aranea, if you must gloat, at least toss an evil cackle in there somewhere.
