Dad is Nanna's biological son. But apparently also John's, since he exists as Jane's guardian.

Presumably, they both donated the same X chromosome without mutations in the conception stage.
Then Dad would be a woman... which I doubt.

I believe the way it worked was that the ghost parents were Nanna, Grandpa, Bro, and Mom, and their DNA was combined, creating 8 possible combinations.

Oh, yeah, right.

Hm. Okay, biological parenting doesn't make much sense then.

Hm. Let's assume that ectobiology works like standard reproduction but ignore mutations and chromosmal crossing-overs.

Each of our little humans has 46 chromosomes, 23 from each parent, 44 autosome.
The B2 kids have a complete set created out of nothing, the B1 kids are recombinations.

B1 Dad's genome was (presumably, see my last post for nutcase theories) a recombination of Nanna's and the elusive Mr Egbert's.
He has the Y-Chromosome(and 22 random ones) from Mr E, the X-Chromosome (and 22 others) from Nanna.

B2 Dad's genome contains among others John's Y-Chromosome(which in turn is Jake's!) and the X-chromosome of some Mrs Crocker, née... who knows.
John has exactly 22 autosomal chromosomes from Jane. Statistically 50% of those are transmitted to Dad. It is possible(if abysmally unprobable) that 100% are transmitted, and that Mrs. Crocker was genetically absolutely identical to Mr. Egbert, making the X and Y Chromosomes the only certain difference between Dad Egbert and Dad Crocker.

Statistically though(ignoring mutations and crossing-overs) only about eleven chromosomes are identical.

Time travel sure is confusing.
Also genetics.
And time travel involving genetics.

Homestuck can be confusing like this because everything is ultimately a moebius double reacharound, which in turn causes itself to exist. The fact that most things happen because they happen makes an attempt to understand the mechanics behind the happening difficult.

Or it splits off into doomed time lines.

I have begun to suspect that the alpha timeline* is defined as nothing more than being the one that's internally consistent.

*As far as I can tell, it's a sort of metatimeline including the human, troll, and cherub timelines (including the personal timelines of Time players), and the effects of any other timelines that impact those as a consequence of events that occurred within the alpha timeline (for instance, Davesprite).

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Jade has had no social contact except for three people over the internet... And a magic dog I guess.
How is she not cracked?
Remember she was already awake.  Raised by prospitians, so of course she's silly.

I believe I can safely conclude that Vriska/Aranea likes using the word break too much.

Do prospitians ever even talk?
We have seen people from both planets talk, but only in that weird narrative third person way.
(Stating that someone said something to someone else etc.)

They can talk to humans, although not neccesarily in a conventional way.

Everyone's becoming more like their dancestors. :|
Post-Ascension Aradia was always like this, need I remind you of Corpse Parties, or Aradai freezing Jack to escape into the Green Sun.
