New album.

Still no Eternity's Shylock, although Eternity Served Cold is close enough.

It's the same pattern as always. A piece of music is refined for the album release. Think of "Black Rose / Green Sun", or maybe "Mutiny" if you remember the old days. "Eternity Served Cold" is "Eternity's Shylock", longer and under a new name. I think some people complained about the name "Eternity's Shylock" because Shylock, the evil jewish moneylender from William Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice", was a negative stereotype? I remember reading some blog posts about it.

But... "Black Rose / Green Sun" was made for Vol 7, then remixed into "Black Hole / Green Sun" for Cascade, then that was released on Vol 8. If the original version of Eternity's Shylock doesn't make it onto an album, that'll be unprecedented.

The difference is that there isn't one. Eternity Served Cold is named differently and longer. That's pretty much it.

As for unprecedented, the original Mutiny was an incomplete preview, and flowed quite differently from the one that got on the disc. Both versions got taken down when Bolin left the music team, but I'm sure they're on Youtube. Speaking of Youtube, you can always just put on your CYBERPUNK GOGGLES and get a bootleg of the version that's on the flash. Or, if your goggles are sufficiently fancy, extract it from the flash yourself.

Speaking of Eternity Served Cold, I have the sneaking suspicion that the portion cut out (pun intended) to make Eternity's Shylock will yet end up seeing use if that guy's 'Jake gets decapitated and Caliborn takes over the body' theory turns out to be correct. It'd be perfect for that scene.
