Hmmm, I've been looking at merchandise everywhere and I can't seem to find squiddles or scalemates or any plushies at all. Am I the only one that finds this a business oversight on their part?
I'm pretty sure that was intentional so that they could add scalemates as a reward tier for the Kickstarter for extra money. Presumably they'll be added to the store later but right now, you're right.

Shit. Even as a straight male that generally conforms to societal norms I would have my room filled with them. Hell, they'd be sold out the first day and it'd be because of me. I'd buy all the plushies. All of them.

Okay, we need to stop accepting that men not being allowed to have tons of plush critters is normal or good. Plushies are bitchin, and I should be able to have as many as I want without society training folk to look down their noses at me because of it. PLUSH REVOLUTION!

...Once I get my con stuff worked out, I'm gonna get some felt and make my own scalemate. So adorable.

Your Dave avatar has never been more appropriate.  Except that it means you're lying through your teeth about actually liking the things.

I was about to judge everyone who was willing to pay $100 for a scalemate when I realized I'd pay more than that for a squiddle.

Gravity isn't a force in the medium.
Yes it is. It's just one that's ignored whenever convenient for plot purposes.

If there was a mutual attraction between objects of mass, the Incipisphere wouldn't be stable. Prospit would pull the player planets out of alignment and things would start crashing into each other. Also those giant PROSPIT and DERSE labels would crash into the planets or moons. Also Derse's moon couldn't have escaped Skaia's gravity well. Also the Horrorterrors would collapse under their own mass. Gravity is a thing, but it's very different from your puny human earth gravity.

SBURB just doesn't have a physics engine. They used all the space they saved by just arbitrarily coding things to fall at 9.8 m/s toward arbitrary points to fit in time shenanigans. An acceptable trade, I'd wager.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

The many flagellating tentathorns of the noble circle of Horrorterrors guide the celestial bodies into alignment and bind beings to their will. Nobody escapes their flailing reach.

I never would have imagined that the universe's way of propagating itself could be accused of lazy programming.

And then I read Homestuck.

I think you just implied that the Medium works by way of tentacle demons molesting the laws of physics.
