 There has been major hints for a longass time that the mechanics of ascending were different than what we thought they were. Any changes to what we knew previously is anything but an asspull. So, to sum up the rules as we understand them now:

 Each player has two Quest Beds, one on their respective land where their dead body goes, and one in the catacombs of their kingdom, for their dreamself to die on. It is not known if Prospit had them as well or if it's a unique feature of Derse. When a player dies on their lands bed they wake up as a god on the Battlefield. When their dreamself dies on the catacomb quest bed they appear where they died.

 Dreamselves are also basically the same person, as much as different timeline people are basically the same person. Remember when Rose transferred her dreamself from the doomed offshot timeline to Rose Prime? They are simply memories being added.

IT could also be that prospit dreamers have two quest beds, one in the middle of skaia and one in their land, and derse dreamers also have two beds, one in their land and one in derse's core.

Most likely incorrect. When Players die in their land's bed they replace their dream-selves, as shown by Jade's ears, and the dream selves do not have to be on the battlefield to ascend, as evidenced by Vriska, whose dream self was on prospit when she ascended.

I did not say their dreamself had to be on the battlefield, only that it appears there. Johns dreamself appeared on a quest bed on the Battlefield when he was ascending without going to that parallel bed himself. Vriska also appeared with a blue sky backdrop, probably on the Battlefield as opposed to Prospit.

I fixed the arms and everything but yeah... most people draw these kids as ginormous long-legged adults or something.
