As to how Jack got to Skaia, I initially guessed he just flew. He has wings now. Traveling there the mundane way, with a shuttle or a teleporter, is also a possibility.

But, it doesn't really matter. He absorbed the Black Queen's powers. In accordance to the chess metaphor, he can now move an arbitrary amount of squares, either diagonally or orthogonally. He is the most mobile piece there is.

But chess does not work the same way in this universe, apparently. If it did, the queen would be on the battlefield, because the king is useless in chess.

The king can't be taken, just checkmated, but yes, that's the only way to lose. And the queen is far better a warrior.

So it stands to reason that the roles are either reverse or something is different.
