I know your pain, though it was with a game I was playing and hadn't saved for a while.
Still, it sucks when you lose work because you were to lazy or confident or just forgetful to save.
Even worse when it was due to a single mistake despite exercising much caution up to, and even during, that point. I was drawing on
this thing. The mistake was that I clicked the url and then pressed enter. I thought I'd switched over to the other tab I wanted to reload. By "and even during that point", I meant that as soon as I noticed the page was reloading, I kept pressing ESC in an (unfortunately futile) effort to stop the page from loading.
Still, I understand exactly what you mean as that's happened to me before in games, but on a smaller scale because I usually save all the time.
I really need to get a good drawing program that works well with trackpads. GIMP is nice, but I can't draw neatly/easily in it. Hopefully a program that allows manipulation with individual lines like that site I linked.
If it's any consolation, even unfinished it looks pretty nice.
It's some. At least there was anything to show for my efforts at all even if it isn't much out of the collective work done, I guess.
Sometimes its not even forgetting to save. Saves get corrupted too!
(Had that happen to me before, like a weeks worth of writing down the drain)
Ooh that sucks, losing everything despite being careful. I remember a few years ago when I was first starting to draw on computers that I screwed around with a file of a drawing I'd made, which turned out real well considering my inexperience and had taken a combination of luck and effort (Adobe Illustrator isn't exactly an instinctual program to work with). I thought I'd made a duplicate. Obviously, I hadn't, and I couldn't even access it. I used to delete/mess with files thinking that they/there were duplicates too many times to count. Thank goodness I'm able to say "
I wonder what would happen if no, forget it, I don't care" nowadays when it comes to computers.
Sorry if I come off as sounding indifferent; I've never been good with showing appreciation. I really do appreciate the fact that anyone is saying anything at all. Thanks.
