John ain't a fighter, he doesn't care about that junk. Dave is the knight so presumably he can handle himself a bit better, not to mention quantum immortality. Jade is safe and can just wail away at the guy despite not being a fighter herself.

He just witnessed more than half his friends either die or go crazy and kill his friends. The dude cares about his friends, he really doesn't deserve the title "Whiny Bitch".

 Presumably Jack didn't destroy Prospit or Derse because there is not a single living thing on Prospit and his associates live on Derse. He isn't so bored as to go killing the closest thing he could call friends, and he has respect for the Dignitary and his management skills.
