This is the less powerful Bec? D:

E: Or rather, less dangerous. But y'know, that's scary.

I doubt it. While Jack is more dangerous after The Scratch, I think it's because of a change in his mindset, not a power up. Compare him from here and the very next page. He goes from resisting the temptation to destroy everything, while in the kids session to annihilating everything he sees while in the trolls session. Something apparently pushes him over the edge into "destroy everything" mode.

What the fuck is that, and why do people keep making it?  Stop that.
It's a slow loris and it's awesome. There should totally be slow lori in DF.

The Hussmaster has a devious plan up his sleeve. The elder gods wouldn't possess a girl to fight Jack just for her to get killed. It's kind of a dick move, even for elder gods.

There is an ulterior motive at work here, and that might be what pushes him over the edge.

The Draconian Dignitary dies.

Just like the Courtyard Droll is an expert at mediating conflicts in accordance with the quadrant of troll romance that shares his symbol, the Draconian Dignitary reins in Jack Noir's more murderous urges.

That's my guess anyway.

Or Jade dies. That'd probably work too.

Of course! And Hegemonic Brute caused Jack to go through tremendous romantic conflict! It all fits together!

And just to make a point, the last few months have been Hussie developing interesting scenes we want to be resolved onto flip to somebody else we don't care about that the moment and building them up in the same way, only to flip away again before anything is resolved.

And Jade is currently not doing anything interesting.

There's a Formspring update. Hussie addresses how he sometimes changes plans.

Also, lions.

I stopped reading the Formspring a while ago, because it was basically just Hussnastiness without real jokes.  He seems to have toned it down a lot since then.  Some of these are pretty inspiring.

Do you recall that at one point, WV spent about three weeks fucking around with cans in a bunker before he finally blasted off? In Act 1, we watched John launch cakes out of his sylladex for two months before we even discovered the story had a plot.
...
I remember when WV was horsing around with Can Town, there were similar murmurs of impatience, and many believed firmly it couldn't possibly be going anywhere that served the story. Nobody could know his big can in the desert would blast off soon, let alone that a year later, for reasons they couldn't yet fathom, thousands of teenagers to smear gray makeup all over their faces because of stuff that happened in this story. What could possibly happen later that would cause this??? Pretty hard to imagine, when you're the guy in December of '09, impatiently waiting for WV to eat parts of a pumpkin, drink Tab, and play chess with himself.

I can't imagine what conventions are like from Hussie's perspective, seeing a parade of gangly teenagers (and many things besides) covered in gray paint worshiping the ground you walk on.

Wait, people had complaints about WV?

He's like the greatest character in the story, only second to CD.
