I've also really been pondering Troll biology after all these gross injuries on display.  Tavros fell of a 3 or 4 story cliff, and was "paralyzed" but able to balance himself standing on his knees.  Kanaya got a hole blow through where her lower spine should be, and she's running around just fine.
