I have the feeling that this conversation is going to keep moving backwards through time and will drag causality with it.  Namely, that Kanaya is going to wind up explaining the space stuff to Jade in the past because Jade told her she does in the future, which is going to confuse Jade enough to enact the passwords in the first place.  Not to mention Hussie is going to keep on teasing about critical game mechanics, like all this Expensive Equipment.  At least he slipped in the reveal that Jadesprite never stops being useless.

I'm pretty sure she was talking about the Forge, but the ectobiology thing actually makes sense.  I can't believe I didn't think of that, since when John first connected, he had access to all the junk from the old ectobiology lab.  I suspected from the start that it would be the perfect sort of paradox loop that not only do the players create themselves, but they even create the method by which it happens.  Maybe.

Doesn't explain what the Matriorb is doing hanging all out like that.
