It's a reference to the SBaHJ style.

Can I just say, as someone who would really miss this thread if it was gone, that after the recent... refresher from Toady about excessive posting and garbled language, that maybe you guys ought to stop doing that now.

Heck, I remember when it first crossed the threshhold, that it worried me that this thread has considerably most posts than MSPA has pages.  Let me be the first to say that maybe, just maybe, we don't need five or six (minimum) notices every time the comic updates.  Especially if all someone's going to post is "Update".  I'm guilty of this too, which gives me credibility, not hypocrisy, when I say it's not a good idea.

That's actually an interesting point.
I'd seen that they where not quite fully square, but it didn't click that they where the same shape as captchalogue cards.
..Perhaps the whole station is just made of Captchalogue cards? Hehe!

Because Hussie knew that making them that shape would make the fandom start asking questions like that. Secretly, there is no reason. He's purposely making us wonder so that we fail to wonder about something more important hidden in plain sight.

Next question: How the hell did WV do it? He doesn't have the muscle to open a tin can, so how did he manage to pull those panels off? One could claim cheap plaster thanks to shoddy Skaia.net construction, but that would likely crumble around him as a fort.

Still, appreciate the Problem Sleuth reference.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

IDE/THEORY: Turning off the fourth wall is what retroactively causes Andrew to shut off the suggestion boxes. That's right, I'm saying that Andrew will attribute something that happened in the real world ten months ago to an update he's going to make. And he'll get away with it.
No, the suggestion boxes WERE DESTROY BY METEOR.

Nah, they're just cans, and they're all outside making new friends.  And maybe he pried the panels off with a bayonet or something.

I'm really wondering about Dave's planet, but I think it's actually a page from his etiquette book, or some other piece of paper that already had a gear drawn on it.  It tore when he pried the panel off, and it now serves only as a distraction to make people pull their hair out going "OH GOD WHATS THE SIGNIFICANCE".

I think he drew the gear on a piece of paper.

Question from those old references:

What planet is it, exactly, that Derse orbits? Do we know anything about it at all?

Derse orbits Skaia too, but the orbit  is far out enough to be outside the Furthest Ring.
