Maybe its indicative of her maturing or something? Or at least the start of the proccess.

In any case, we're about to see the whole entering the medium sequence for Jade and FINALLY see what she uses to prototype the kernel.

I don't think she's maturing. Maybe she is. But I dunno, it seems more like she's grieving. Like that part of her life is over, and now she has to move on.
