After the kids acting appropriately thirteen-years-old for Acts 1-4, then the three month Parade of Batshit Crazy Love(?) from Equius and Aradia, then Vriska and Tavros and Kanaya, and then Sollux and Feferi and Eridan (son of a bitch, I feel like such a tool just for typing all those names), we finally get some good old fashioned honest romance, if still weirded up by their personalities, from Karkat <3 Terezi,

And now Hussie has to go fuck that all up too with a bunch of teasing over the Rock'em Sock'em Boy Toys.  I'm not even going to try to analyze why he's doing this.  More MAXIMUM TROLLING, surely that's all.

I hope you realize that you're all talking about which ship is best. There's nothing wrong with that, of course. I like Karkat ♥ Terezi myself, and don't really think that concupiscent troll/human relationships have a snowball's chance in hell of ever working out.

John is crazy and writes all over his walls without knowing it. Terezi is a blind prophet, generally known for being less-than-sane. Equius is controling and has severe anger issues. Kanaya chainsawed Tavros's old legs off. Feferi thinks she can change the actions of the trolls as a whole to avoid death, somthing that may very well be biologically impossible. Eridan wants to kill all the trolls outside of the nobles.

Trust me, everyone in this story is crazy.

I was there specifically targeting "emotionally crippled". I won't argue John not being crazy, but he has a reasonable emotional spectrum.
Equius has, at least, self-knowledge about his anger issues and works to control them. (Compare to Karkat)

?Rose might still have uncrippled emotions but declining sanity does seem to be influencing this.
Dave is either feeling nothing or flipping the fuck out.
Jade appears to only have one mode.
Gamzee is numbed to the world.
Karkat is ANGRY
Terezi is pretty manic most of the time.
Sollux is clearly manic-depressive.
Nepeta also appears to be modelocked.
Vriska has just enough emotional swing to be on the edge.
Aradia has no emotions. (And she's 0K with that.)
Kanaya, while somewhat muted, is reasonable.
Tavros has his head in the clouds.
Feferi seems to be overreactive, but displays varying degrees of varying emotions.
Eridan has at least the anti-hero range of emotion.
