Interstate '76 and '82
« on: July 29, 2009, 05:29:41 pm »

Who played has these? I never had '76 (people tell me that's better) but I ahd a great bit of fun with '82 (sequel). If you haven't heard of them, they came out in 1996 and 1999 respectively, and it's basically Mechwarrior meets Roadwarrior. Very fun, if you can make 'em run on modern computers or have your old system.

Anyway, I've been hankering for a match in '82, but the it seems that the sites where one ought to look for this (i82.co.uk and Interstateoutlaws.com seem all but abandoned. Anyway, you can use HAMACHI to get up to six people together by tricking the game into thinking it's a LAN. Anyone up for it?

I played interstate 76 a fair amount when it came out with my (then) state of the art force feedback joystick.  It was a pretty good game for it actually, as when a tire got blown out you would feel the thumping in the stick.  I'm not sure if it would be quite as fun without the joystick, but yeah it was a fun game.  I get the feeling that it would seem terribly sparse if i went back to it now though.
