I don't own the game...

Yet I can answer that question...

They attract worms.

Thumpers are hardly useless... In fact far from it (Also Dune 2 would be the father... I THINK 2000 is the remake)

If you can get a Thumper to summon a Worm near an enemy you can decimate their army. Heck use it to destroy Harvesters.

I think they can also Ride the Sand Worm but I cannot remember all the details.

They can in the books.

Also, does it have shields or shield simulators?
Those would not only summon a worm but drive it into a suicidally destructive rage.

Dune 2000 is indeed the remake.  It's basically a modified version of Red Alert.  And hardly the father of modern RTSs I would say.

To answer the question, thumpers are indeed useless, and while I have the game, I can't get it to run.

Woah, woah, woah, Aqizzar. Dune 2, the original, is definitely the father of modern RTS games. It predates C&C 1, and is the originator of many common tropes in modern RTS games.

Even as a Harassment unit? The Sandworms kill almost all units with one hit and few units can kill infantry with one hit. (The Cheapest would be the Emperor units)

No I think the 2nd tier Fremen unit can also ride the Sandworm.

That's what I said.  Dune 2000 is not that.  For God's sake man.

I remember playing dune 2000 on PSX. Sonic tank rush or million billion trillion infantry which you can control with one click. Your choice.

If it is what I am thinking of it isn't even a Remake. It is a lot like a Redo.

I have no oppinion really as I didn't like it so much as to buy. You may not like the fact that it pretty much makes up half the stuff that goes on in that game.

Bit of a clickfest in combat, especially if you use engies. Got to sell the buildings FAST, before an enemy engie grabs it back. Although it's a lot of fun grabbing Ordos or Atredies facilities and then using ornithopters AND nukes at the same time. Just wish I could use more than one barracks at a time.
