Grynar
Stalking the dark and forbidding mushroom jungles of Alberterre are many deadly creatures seldom seen by human eyes. Among the greatest and deadliest is the grynar. This 15 foot tall blind monstrosity stalks the lowest and darkest reaches of the mushroom jungles. They are unstoppable predators with massive crushing arms for pulverizing prey and a distinctly shaped head with a mouth lined with fangs. This mouth is capable of of splitting apart like like a banana peel to swallow prey many times large than it could normally eat. Grynars are solitary creatures and only group together during their short mating season. Avoidance is recommended.

Special Abilities: The grynar is a nigh unstoppable beast capable of taking catastrophic damage and still keeping on the offensive. A grynar does not die when it takes double it's Hp value in damage. It must take triple it's own Hp value to die outright.
Grynar's posses an incredibly robust circulatory system which helps to maintain it's large body. As a side effect the grynar is able to regenerate tissue at a startlingly rapid pace. Grynars heal 2 Hp per round and are not subject to any kind of bleeding.
Grynars have the ability to vomit up the contents of their five stomachs, covering a small area in their digestive juices. The target must be within melee range. This attack covers a 5x5 area (centered on the target) and does 2D6 damage but does not affect the grynar. This can only be used once a day.

Birgol
Of all the predators on Alberterre, birgols are the ones that have been studied the most by humanity. This is mostly due to the beast's somewhat bi-polar behavior. When a birgol is hungry it becomes almost psychotically aggressive, but when it is sated it become docile and spends it's time sleeping. While nothing particularly spectacular has resulted from the research into these creatures it may someday lead to great things. Until then it is best to avoid this beetle-like predator if you value your own life.

Once the arm is swung it extends to it's full length, allowing it to strike targets much farther away than one would expect. The range of the birgol's melee attack is 4 squares instead of the normal 1. Additionally, the wide swing of the attack allows the birgol to hit everything with within of 180 degree arc.

Fungus Spider
Not all the creatures of the fungus world rely solely upon brute force to catch a meal and the fungus spider is a perfect example. These silent killers lounge in the tops of the mushroom trees with around a dozen mucus threads hanging to the surface below. In the darkness below the strands are virtually invisible. Once something is caught the fungus spider merely hauls it's catch up and begins the feast.

Special Abilities: The fangs of the fungus spider are filled with a horrible poison that paralyzes the victim and dissolves them from the inside out. Anything hit by the fungus spider's attack is affected by the poison. Anything unfortunate enough to be afflicted with this horrible toxin is completely immobilized and incapable of taking any action and loses 3 Hp per round. This poison can only be cured by artificial means.
Fungus spiders surround their small territories with countless mucus lines that dangle from the mushroom tops. Anything that touches these strands must make an agility test (Difficulty
to avoid getting stuck in them. Anything that becomes stuck in these is unable to move away from the strand until it makes a strength test (Difficulty
to break free.
If a creature that is stuck in a mucus thread is smaller than the fungus spider then it may pull or drag the captured creature to it's position at a rate of 5 squares per round.

Buzal Wasps
Anyone who has ever disturbed a nest of wasps knows that the tiny creatures are not to be trifled with. Now imagine the same situation except that the wasps are now the size of a large dog and that there are millions after you. This exact thing has happened to many would be explorers who had the misfortune of stumbling across even one of these as each one is capable of attracting dozens more. If you should ever come across one then hide, or make sure it can't signal the others.

Gas Whale
The gas whales are the absolute largest creatures on the planet of Alberterre. They fly over the vast mushroom forests on their giant gas sacks filtering nutrients from gas swells. Gas whales stand apart from all of the other creatures of the planet in that they are completely non aggressive, only attacking to defend themselves, mostly against their only predator: the buzal wasps.
