Okay, so we’re basically done the first turn. Here’s the rundown:
Over the course of the last turn, we got a few new techs…some new, some we improved old tech. Storage facilities that raise our resource maximums, slightly better missiles, turrets that shoot at incoming missiles, megahospitals and a ship component used for giving emergency plague treatment to a planet, and intelligence centers.
Here’s two images. The first is our system.
Note the pretty warp point. That’s the exit to our system, which we will broach when the plot appropriate time happens. There are also a bunch of planets we can colonize, and a pretty little storm in the background to the upper right. Anyways, here’s a shot of the system, but with circles around the colonizable planets.
2,3 and 5 are all tiny rocks you can only plunk one facility on. They suck, and are probably going to get purchased by a certain mining company unless someone else expresses an interest. One of them has no minerals at all, I think, so it’s an absolute dud planet, basically. You could farm on it, or something. 1 and 4 are slightly larger, so you might be able to accomplish something on them. I think the limit is something like 3 or 5 facilities…still a pain in the arse. 6 is an ice planet. We can’t actually settle there. However, probes have shown that it’s a very nice place. It’s got an atmosphere that’s perfect for breathing, low radiation, mild weather. So, once we’ve got ice colonies…which will take forever…we’ll have a really nice planet waiting for us in our capital. Anyhoo.
It’s new, it’s exciting, it’s sleek, and it’s fast! It’s the new “Big Boskii” spacecraft! Yes, for the first time ever, spacecraft are available to anyone who wants to go into space! Explore the reaches of the system! Go camping out in the ice worlds, explore the asteroid fields! Orbit above our home planet and look down on us, go ahead, you know you want to!
The “Big Boskii” features new, never before seen technology in a spacecraft. It is armed with dual depleted uranium cannons (A*) fed by a large ordinance storage system (B) that works something like a revolver when linked to the cannons*. The engines have much more fuel, because of our supply storage systems (C) attached to them. Truly, the “Big Boskii” is a wonderfull ship, and well worth the moola you will have to fork out to get it, and the long wait.
Don’t pay attention to the total lack of armor, and the too little engines. It’s the only ship on the market, so take it or leave it!
*Not necessarily legal.
*Not really, but it’s the best metaphor we’ve got that’s exciting sounding.
