It's a shame, but I'm willing to call this project dead until further notice.  3 months without info or even contact isn't good news for any project like this.

I'll definetly miss it when we can't use it for the new release.

It's using the same format for offset definitions as DFHack. So updating it to 40d17 should be pretty easy (when it's released).
The next BIG version... that will be a ton of work to add support for no matter how you look at it.

Also, the source is available: https://sourceforge.net/projects/visualfortress/
The GUI toolkit it uses is a bit unusual tho.

There will be no d17. The next BIG version will be out probably before the end of february.
Seems I was misinformed... Carry on then!  ;D

There will be, go check the d16 thread. It was just delayed due to Toady's sickness

Oh great, a source release! Although I can't code for s***...  :(

I really want that one as a "when". I want "grubs", and "virgin woman" to turn into a dragon. and monkey children to suddenly sprout wings. And I want the Dwarven Mutant Academy to only gain their powers upon reaching puberty. I also have a whole host of odd creatures that only make sense if I divide them into children and adults.

Also, tadpoles.

So this freezes up on me whenever I try to use it. I've redownloaded it twice to no avail. It detects my version (d16) and says it's acquiring blocks...then stops responding

Any ideas?

As far as I can tell, he just fell off the face of the Earth, pretty much after he said he was going to have a new release after a bit.

The only other thing I can think of, is that he's gone into a "Do it later" mentality, only wanting to finish the current version when the next DF version releases, which could still be a month or more.

I'd do the same, because the new version probably will lead to a need of re-writing of many things.

If only I could play the game with this graphic, not just visualize it from time to time...

Bug: On refresh, draw distance becomes capped.
Workaround: Minimize VisualFortress window. Then, restore it. The graphics reload, and it appears as it would if you had restarted the application.
