I couldn't resist, really.  Dwarf Heaven's great for mega-fortresses.  It has a reasonable 32 Z-level limit starting from the valley floor, and so many resources of every color and description.  My only regret is that it lacks any iron-producing ore (as far as I've found; I've smelted TONS of malachite, tetrahedrite, and gold, but not one bit of magnetite, limonite, or hematite).

Incidentally, I had another (semi-)mega-fortress built there too in a different game.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I also built another semi-mega-fortress in the Ramul Rabin world, but not at Dwarf Heaven.

So yeah, I have a bit of a history with Dwarf Heaven and its surrounding world.

Erm, are you supposed to insert the models into the game yourself or are Baboonanza waiting until he have everything to do it?

....I think you can do it yourself, if you have the time to rifle through to replace models manually your own self....but I dont know...

Also I've seen no noteworthy update on why my problem is even happening....oh well....I'll just have to accept not being able to use the damn thing...

And thats on topic...not flame, just upset.

I can't get this to work. The screenies other people have posted look beautiful, but whenver I try to run it, this error pops up "This application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect, please see the application event log for more detail". I will look more on this thread to see if anyone else has posted this and gotten it solved. Thanks in advance.

Yikes, the Orcs have a nasty language.  Traditional foreplay would be right out for them; how would they ever "say my name" for one another?  No wonder Ocrs are always so bloodthirsty and violent, they're getting sub-par action.

That's a Visual C++ error.  It means you don't have this installed: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9B2DA534-3E03-4391-8A4D-074B9F2BC1BF&displaylang=en

So, any word on an update?

I can get all the models to work (from way back, not optimized ones), but they're bright pink.  Obviously I need to link textures to the object somehow, but I'm not sure how to correlate the .jpgs provided to the .obj files.

There is an update coming. I've been working on it, but I've also being playing lots of Fallout 3 which is kind of a distraction :)

I might release something next week, but no promises. I don't think I'll be able to get everything I want into the release but there is already plenty of new stuff.

Well, I was going to suprise you :)

Texture revamp with additonal material support. Ie. sandstone has a proper sandstone texture instead of a coloured generic texture.
Bump-mapping, specular lighting. Improved water. (Shader support required)
Blades of grass (the same way its done in games)
Variable time-of-day sky dome. Clouds will have to wait I think
All the building models that have been posted
New slice tool
New interior view
Smooth interiors (ie random noise is only applied outside)
Advanced screenshot capabalility
Many bug-fixes.

All of this is finished/partially complete and my gf is away next week so I should be able to get a lot done.

EDIT: Oh, and camera clipping, forgot about that.

Sounds amazing!
How about a mode where you can walk around your fortress? ;)

Auch, that'd be heavy.
He'd have to convert everything into actual 3D with collision detection, and make some primitive physics for moving around =/

Not gonna happen /methinks
