Probably not.
It's supposed to be a mordor-style dark tower of doom.

That's an interesting one, I haven't seen it before. What state is the bridge in? ie is it retractable or rasied/lowered and what is it's current position?

Retractable, 2x2 Rock Salt Bridge, with no mechanisms (i.e. "deployed" state).

I found a bug where it treats the fortifications as if the camera was inside it while looking at it from a certain side, basicly due to there not being a side panel on the fortification model. This is normally not a problem, and really is a bug caused by another bug. The bug which causes it is apparently due to it not placing the normal looking wall model on the end of a line of fortifications.

Oh, and please make an option to turn off the color of microcline and orthoclase :( My huge underground cavern in which I am building my dwarven city happens to have at least a dozen microcline pockets alone.

Well I said I'd take a look at some of Grey Hunter's stuff, and then I remembered how much Fun it is to use Wings on a laptop with poor video support and a touch pad.

However, I've started, and I thought y'all'd like to see a sample.

Triangle counts:
Original: 738
Revised: 260

Looks like my best bet's going to be rebuilding from scratch(I made a 6-sided cylinder and extruded parts to reproduce the original shape), and admittedly, I think I started with the item that's going to reduce the most, BUT nearly 500 triangles is nothing to sneeze at, and it looks almost as good as the original, if I do say so myself.

Looks fantastic.  Hope I'm not just noise.  I'm just trying to help because I've pretty much always been working under polygon restrictions.

I could take a look at the crossbow shop.  If you're fine with this, I'll take a look at what formats Wings supports.  .3ds is always a fallback, but the format loses so much data it might not be worth it.

For the barrels, you could try doing them the way they're done in games nowadays.  Just a convex cylinder with a barrel map on it.

*Quick check in Wings*

My, but that's a lot of triangles.  I see why you're having trouble now.

I can get barrels down to 96 triangles by using a 12-sided cylinder with three sections to make it convex and a flat surface for the top.  I could probably reduce it slightly more by removing the bottom cap and standing them all up, but any open barrels aren't going to help any.

Using a 16-sided cylinder with 4-segment convexity and recessed endcaps, my triangle count jumps to over 280, which is of course not helpful.

188 polys, and a good deal more detail than is probably needed.  First to go would probably be the bottom(which would be against the floor and not ever seen), followed by the recessed end caps, which brings it down to 82 triangles.(41 quads, which is what everybody actually works in)[/edit]

I'll export what I've got to .OBJ as soon as I have a chance (the inlaws are round for the next few days, so no promises) with the textures in the same folder, then people can have a look, I have no problem with someone who knows what their doing taking a look - I'm entirely self taught through the powers of the internet tutorial!

You should use a hexagonal barrel with 3-part sides and a flat top. It works for World of Warcraft:

World of Warcraft was released 5 years ago, and the graphics looked dated then.

If the barrels are never seen very close, then yes, hexagonal is fine, but I think it's possible to keep the Still under 1000 triangles even with up to dodecagonal barrels.

Also, I just really don't like WoW or anything relating to it. ::)

WoW contains polygons and allows you to do things by pushing buttons.  Uh oh.

Yeah, now you're getting it. Mentioning world of warcraft (or worse, Call of Duty 4) around the "Indie Game" crowd is an absolute death sentence. Abandon all hope, ye who talk about popular video games here.

For a visualizer that's supposed to depict an entire fortress, that barrel looks more than enough in terms of polycount.

Small suggestion: shiny effect for metals. So that there would be a difference between orthoclase and gold fort ;)
