I'm down with that, especially since I invested in Diplomacy.  My priorities are-

1) Convince the group that we should hire some drunks to cause a distraction for us while we sneak in.
2) Convince some drunks to do that.  Hopefully with promises of glory and not actual pay.

By the way, I'm noticing that I'm acting more straight up Neutral than Lawful Neutral.  Since my god is True Neutral anyway, if it's going to matter I should probably correct that.  If it's going to matter.  Which it never does.

Alignment is just two words on your character sheet.  What matters is how your character acts.

As for hiring drunks as chaff, I'd say that's borderline neutral evil, depending on how suicidal the mission is.

This, but warning them to get out early if things go sour and warning them of the hunter-killer squads that will follow.

Oh of course, I'm not talking about a suicide mission.  I mean they should get enough attention from the towers to draw some guards away, then book it back to the safety of the town.  Obviously the Goblins are afraid to launch an all-out assault or they would have done so by now.  The drunks' job is to distract, not catch arrows.

Now if any want to come with for the actual fight, that's another matter.  But we don't need to ask that.

Once EJ and Evilmonk have their say, maybe we'll be able to actually start the adventure proper.

Hiring drunks is a bad idea. Not only will it diminish our gold.. err epic lute. But it would increase the chance of us getting caught, make sneaking near impossible and simply cause unneccesary bloodshed. It would be best to simply sneak in at night get the babies and get out.

So EJ doesn't care how we do it, as long as we do it, and evilmonk doesn't want to hire drunks.

Diplomacy time!

Spoiler: Dice Rolls (click to show/hide)

Vice and Ushav maintain that hiring some lowlives to distract the goblins would increase their chances of success, Stalcon insists that it would be immoral to send drunks on such a dangerous mission.

A heated debate ensues, and it becomes clear that Ushav and Vice have the better argument.  Stalcon senses that he will not be able to convince them otherwise.

What would of happened if Aqizzar rolled about 3 20's in a row?
EDIT:  Like "the people he was arguing against suddenly decide to stop breathing in awe at his oratory skills and die" crazy?

So.... do we implement our plan yet?

Because I'm thinking that's what we should be doing now.

How many drunks do you want to try to hire?

If we are going to be hiring drunks, pay them with your share of the reward, I will have no part of it.

We pay them nothing in advance just for reference.

You go to the tavern and announce your desire to hire brave men for a dangerous mission.

Three inebriated men step forward, wanting to know more.

Do you make an offer, or do you allow them to make an offer?

We pay them nothing in advance just for reference.

You'll have to roll diplomacy there.  Most mercenaries only accept full payment up front, but since they're stupid, you can probably sway them.
