When ariving at the slapper point you come across a strange scene: The baroness is sitting in front of the slapper, being constantly slapped and screaming, the barones consort is standing nerby, panicing like a Sim by a fire, a hauler is looking like he wants to get past the mess, and looking distresed.
The slapper seem to have gone into an infinite loop, if it had been able to move by itself syrly something like this would never have happened. Weels are the obvius choise, but not good for moving around all the stairs present in the fort, and you conclude some form of legs would be the best, pherhaps some kind of standardized platform so you dont have to make a new design for them for every new invention.

Well my design failed, I just want to try again, and rifles need something flammable to operate, hey at least im thinking.

There is no time for complicated designs: you grab a pipe section, a spear, and you flask of boze. You run back to the slapper, ram the boze up one end and the spear of the other, aim, and light the boze on fire.

If not, they need to be installed. Nothing more dwarven than wasting so many resources for such a mundane task!

Plus, it guarentees that sneaky elves cannot access your tool drawers and any plans you store in them.
