I played Starcraft on 128k WLAN, and it went fine 1v1. I doubt your internet is worse than that.

Oh, have you tried Battle for Wesnoth yet? Free TBS, great campaigns, multiplayer that works on crappy connection.

I played battle for Wesnoth a few years ago, i didn't really like it...

I may try your suggestion with starcraft, after testing it with Warcraft 3

Also, there is near infinite good webcomics around, you need to specify what kind of webcomic you like. daily updates or artsy ones monthly? deep moving story or daily gags? fantasy or scifi?

Updates don't matter, I'd prefer a good story with good comedy in a fantasy setting, like OOTS.

You're welcome. :)
If I had actually put an effort into it, I could probably have managed several time more, but that would have taken time, and involved recommending comics witoute having read them first. I also interpreted the preferences pretty strictly.

TES 1 and 2, C&C and C&C red alert have all been released as free downloads.
Wikipedia has a page of commercial games released for free, mostly older games, but there are some good ones.

Go to the library. They have these fascinating new contraptions called "books" nowadays.

Any good books you can recommend? I've read pretty much every interesting book i can find, and i don't have my history teacher to ask for books...

Also warhawks? Feh, my friend has it, not so fun, also to mention my internet isn't fast enough to maintain good connection, free or not.

Well, there's the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett, Anathem, by Neal Stephenson, Animal farm and 1984 by George Orwell, An absolutely massive amount of books by Issac Asimov, The Destination: Void series by Frank Herbert, Ender's game, The Beast that screamed love at the heart of the world by Harlan Ellison, If on a winters night a traveler by Italo Calvio (will mess with head) House of leaves and of course the works of H. P. Lovecraft.

Dune series by Frank Herbert (I can't say what his sons Dune works are like though)
Discworld
The Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy
The Belgarid and the Malloreon series by David and Leigh Eddings
Pushing Ice by Alistair Reynolds
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes
The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen R. Donaldson
Anything with Hercule Poirot by Agatha Christie
Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons

All I can say with books is find a genre your interested in and go to your public library and get some books out. There are lots of books I've read but can't remember because when I was younger I used to get out 20 books at a time and read them all in about a month.
