Oh good we have some materials to work with...

  • Take turtle bone, start whittling with the sharp stone
  • During whittling, take a drink, but beware the fish of the water.

If you read the 2nd post, the personality traits for Urist are not set yet. You need some IP to do that. However you may shape him as you like.

Also try to avoid using the unspecified resource, be more specific about the things you do or I will do something stupid and funny (I liked to do it when I was DM in tabletop games).
I say it to you, Areyar. What if Urist tries to befriend the rat by throwing a cane at it? :) Think what the rats like, remember what happened the last time etc.

Also the rat is somewhat hard-bitten, isn't it? :)

Go harvest and eat the mushrooms for psychedelic effect. Then go carp noodling.

alright. We got a cane from the waterside reeds then?

>Try to tease out some ropereed thread from shirt.
>select small sharp bone from turtle.
>Create fishing tools using mushroom for float, thread, cane, turtle collarbone as a hook and rotten meat as bait.

I was stuck at work (server programs reinstallation) so I will patch another picture now and leave to home.

For those who wonder how I roll dice:
I roll a single d6 dice (cube). For the action I substract a number from 6, the number is determined by the task difficulty: 0 - none, 1 - very easy, 2 - easy, 3 - moderate, 4 - hard, 5 - very hard, 6 - impossible. You have to roll the numbers from 1 to X to score the success, where X = (6 - difficulty).
The skills will add to the result (and there're various trait boni) so it's possible to make impossible if you have some boni.

The thing you must know: I rolled 1 for the fishing pole (1 = extreme success).

Is it too late to enter? If not:

Urist McKing pays a visit to the Elven King.
"Sir", says Urist, "We have decided to go to war with ye."
The elven king looks incredulous, but takes war seriously.
"We?  Who is this we?", he says sternly.
"Well, that would be me, me brother Urist, his son Urist, our cousins Urist and Urist, and our father Urist."
"My good Dwarf,  I have 1100 elves at my command that can be ready to move on a moment's notice.", says the king.
"Oh.", replies Urist. "Let me get back to ye on that."
The Dwarf leaves, but returns two days later.
"Ok king, I have rounded up two more cousins and we a few axes between us all."
"Sir Dwarf, I have 300 of the finest archers around, plus my royal guards have the finest wooden armour in the land."
"Oh, well, I see." The Dwarf lord thinks a bit. "Let me come back to ye."
And he leaves to return again in two days.
"Ok king, we have rounded up a few more swords and I think we are ready".
"You should know my good dwarf that I have since raised the size of my elven army to 1300."
"Ah fok!", and the dwarf leaves. He comes back the next day.
"Well king, I am afraid we have to call off the war."
"I am sorry to hear that.  Was it the power of my elven army to changed your mind?"
"Nah, I spoke to all my kin and we decided that we just did not have the room for 1300 prisoners."

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Are we going to control 'ourselves' or provide directions to dwarfs in general?
There's a single dwarf we control. It's a kind of "a man against the world" adventure when you have no tools or skills and have to learn and shape the things around.

I plan to add other dwarves later (at first a woman) but it will be laaateerrr. I want you to have ability to do various things and at the same time I want me to have reasonable amount of work to keep it running not too slow.

There's no "late", however it may take some time for me to find out a trait for you and tell you "you're allowed to act!". Also try to use the latest achievements to do the best.

TURN 4

Urist sharpened a few bones with his sharp rock. He cut his finger but the wound was small so he quickly forgot about it. After that he went up to the river and drank some water. The water was sparkling and clean, however there was something wrong with it's taste. "Too bland", thought Urist.
After that our dwarf has collected a long river cane. Using his cane, he tried to befriend the rat he tried to kill, but he couldn't find the little pest (well, he didn't try to search for it in the first place).
Urist has noticed funny mushrooms where the boulder was. He collected them and ate for the psychedelic effect, however no matter how long he waited there was none. The shrooms had some hard seeds or spores inside so Urist spit them out on the ground.
After that he decided that he should catch some fish with his bare hands for the real psychedelic effect. He went in the river, slipped on the clay and worked hard to get back on the shore. No fish for you, Urist.
Without a proper skill Urist took some thread out of his shirt (probably too much), however the shirt mainly remained intact. He used the thread, the cane and a sharp bone to make some kind of a fishing pole. Urist was quite happy with the effect.

Urist drank clear water (full, 0 TH; +1 to alcohol shortage)
Urist has collected mushrooms and a cane (+1 to herbalism)
Urist ate mushrooms (satiated, 0 HU)
Urist has been fatigued trying to swim out of a river (+1 TI; +1 to swimming)
Urist has made a nice fishing rod out of a crap (+2 to crafting)

It's afternoon. The temperature is warm. The wind blows from the east. The sun is shining.

Dwarves:
Urist Beardbridges:
a Rope reed shirt; Rope reed pants; Turtle Shell Cap; Sharp Rock (held); River Cane fishing pole (held)
Hunger/Thirst/Tiredness: 0/0/5

Skills: Throwing0 (1/5); Crafting0 (3/5); Herbalism0 (1/5); Swimming0 (1/5)

Location:
Unnamed place:
Temperature: Moderate
Wind: East, weak
Weather: Clear, a few clouds, the sun is high in the sky

You hear nothing but rushing water.

Areyar gets +2 IP for a successful creation of the first tool.

Awesome.

Pick up the seeds
Make a furrow in the ground with the butt of the rod
Put the seeds in and splash some river water on them

Can we combine points to get those shiny shiny traits, or is it every man for every dwarf for himself?

  • Find a Solid Branch
  • Set aside a sharp bone
  • Use sharp bone to create a notch in one end of the branch
  • Place sharp stone into the notch, and wrap around it tightly using the thread.
  • Test Stone-tipped half-spear
