Hmm...either the rat has dug a burrow or the elf is trying to devour it. ;)

first things first:
-stick rod butt-end into the ground near campsite.
-gut(clean) the fish using the sharp of the spear.
-impale the cleaned fish on a new slender stick. Place on big rock near fireplace.
-offer fish-offal to rat (gently!).

There's already a fireplace :).

Also note that Urist has found a way to start a fire, but firewood is not burning yet.

right, preparation is the first half of success though.

I'd like to add to my previous post:

-Create fire in fireplace using the flinty rocks.
-cook/smoke fish-on-stick. rest while fish is cooking/charring.

-gather soft leafy branches from brush and forrest, create bed from them.

In short : create a fine campsite, dinner and prepare for night.

Areyar. stop suggesting so many things. We all need credit here :D

so, uh, yeah. gut the fish and make a bed are the only reasonable options. Place some wood underneath gathered leaves to make a stronger that will keep his back flat (beds that are too soft are bad for you, you need resistance).

Second thing, place warm but not burning log (from after fire) underneath his head as a warming pillow.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

It's ok, I've just got a mom on my back and soon a wife arrives from the south, so I didn't have the time to accept all applications.

Still you're free to suggest, because as you see I don't judge the quality of the joke, I just add a questionable trait.
I want more action from more people before I make another panel, because for now it's mainly Areyar only and little dwarf is acting slowly...

I'd prefer looking for a wadable ford nearby first, before going through the effort of building a bridge.
Need to let the skyrock cool down before analysis can be made, so suggest to postpone that for a later day.

Sorry rowanas. :) It's just that suggesting only a single action does not constitute a complete job usually, so nesting them is inevitable.

We need a bed or we'll get nasty thoughts.

We need a stockpile to put the fish on so it doesn't rot or we'll get nasty thoughts.

  • Designate a Food Stockpile over by the campfire
  • Store fish on Stockpile
  • Begin cutting a tree

Verdict: Guilty.
Sentence: Two hammer strokes to the head.
Sentence changed to a beating due to hammerer falling into the chasm.
Notes: Beating duty transferred to fortress guard due to captain of the guard being bedridden with broken lower spine.

Offense: Making Useless Mandates.
Verdict: Guilty.
Sentence: Pull lever in small, isolated room.
Notes: Room mysteriously collapsed into the magma pipe, taking the lever and noble with it.
Viva la revolution!

My suggestion: Spear a fish, and cook it over the still-hot meteor.

Then take a pair of rocks and start knocking them together until one develops a sharp edge. Stonecrafting FTW.

I will make an update today when I come to work.

Note: to get to the meteor you should swim across the river, and we can't swim yet. I wish to continue this comic so I don't want this dwarf to die yet :). You could try to build something like a bridge/raft though, but you would need a wood for that :D.
