This is most likely due to the thick nature of that glass, and the fact that said glass is curved into a dome-slice shape.  Extremely strong.

Yeah, same principle sloped armor works off of. So you shoot it in the side.

Realizing that my skills in Mount and Blade are directly proportionate to how badass I look in the game, I've set out to make a Ruinous Mark-themed surcoat, barded warhorse, and banner.

The only problem is that GIMP is no longer reading the textures properly, so I have to do it in paint.  Even if paint somehow musters up the power to even pull it off, it'll look awful because paint splatters all that awful noise all over the edges of the colors.

As for sloped glass.  A car windshield can deflect 9mm bullets.  That's why you use a .357

EDIT:  It'll be tough, but if I can pull it off it's gonna look hardcore.

It'll deflect off the sides of the tube as well.  Those bastards are pretty hefty.

But, yeah, the glass is the more dangerous to hit directly.

I don't think so Sofia.  It's more the same principle that domes work off of. Namely, arches and domes are the strongest shape.

That's for load bearing, the idea behind sloped armor is it's thicker even though it isn't. And glass is somewhat flexible so that combines and ZING! Ricochet!

The glass has both - it's curved so acts like an arch for more strength, but the curve also gives it enough of an angle to deflect as well.

And all this reminds me of just how scary IT folks can be.
