The last problem was some car problem were there is a fixed rate and a extra fee for every mile you drive.  Let's say you drove 210 miles with the car.  The car cost $25 (yeah, it's weird) and the total was $81.  What was the cost per mile?  (I feel ashamed I can't do I'm not allowed harder work to be honest :-/)

I wrote C=(t-f)/x.  And I said that cost per mile is .27 cents roughly.

I got half credit for the problem.  She wrote that I got the answer right (the .27 cents bit), but the equation had too many variables...

C=cost per mile
t=total cost
f=fixed rate
x=miles driven

I wrote that down next to the equation.  When I recieved the test back I questioned her and said that the equation worked fine.  I don't know.  Well, whatever.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

Maybe what they wanted was:

C=(81-25)/210 ?

Then again, that might just be me, I don't like using letters where the value of the variable is known.

Also, it is guaranteed I make at least ONE STUPID MISTAKE in every maths test I do (notable mistakes including giving one answer in a solve this quadratic equation question, and buying half a bottle of tomato sauce ;D), luckily it never detracts from my score (as I usually stuff up the first question, and I don't think we get graded like you do).

It makes me RAEG that it is damn near impossible to get Excellence (the highest mark) in English, but I can do it in all my other subjects.

Clear example of a bad teacher. One who can not realize not everyone thinks the same and is not smart enough to realize that there is other ways then the answer key. Think for yourselves, teachers!

Was this a proper test, or just a practice one?

In my school, the teachers are pretty bound by the exam schedule (marking paper) in proper exams - in tests where the answers could be interpreted different ways (like English) the marked paper is then sent to ANOTHER examiner to be moderated.

If it was a practice test though, no reason why you shouldn't have got it right. Still, practice for next time.

And I RAEG that it has rained NON-STOP throughout the ENTIRE SCHOOL HOLIDAY, so I have achieved NOTHING I WANTED TO DO. I haven't even studied.

As a male my only advice could be: be a man! ignore your pain and get drunk to help you do so.

Also (for a man) disregarding reason for a while is cathargic, also (as a man) I feel women generally don't make sense or listen ton reason, so advice on reasoning does not work cross-sexually.  :p

I hate to see a fellow baywatcher feeling down.

You should go on a rampage in a children's playground, then eat their flesh.
