Identify the Old (I mean really old) Game for Vactor
« on: July 26, 2009, 09:28:44 pm »

I've been halfheartedly trying to rediscover the very first computer game i remember playing for quite some time.

I played it sometime around first or second grade on an Apple II (or Apple IIe) in my grade school.  This puts me playing it right around 1990-1ish, but was probably made a good while before that.  I think it was in ASCII (at the very least very simple), with a 2d map that was real time rather than turn based.  I do remember that there were areas that were blocked off until opened from some other area of the map.

And this is what i *hope will identify it:  I seem to remember that there were caterpillars or worms or snakes of some sort zig-zagging around the map , and if you got hit by it you would be (i think eaten and) taken to a new map, where you were inside the creature and had to navigate your way through its digestive tract.  This was something uniquely cool that has always stuck with me, and i'm guessing this forum is one of my more likely chances of finding out what the game was, and what was actually going on.  I may have completely misunderstood what was going on and filled in the gaps with my own imagination.

edit: I of course have tried googling for it, but "apple II games getting eaten by a caterpillar" doesn't turn up much

Could it be "Think Quick"?

Then you may not have tried hard enough because I found it on the first page of results with the keywords:  "apple ii" game swallowed
