Disappearing purring maggots
« on: July 26, 2009, 04:59:48 pm »

In an attempt to start a cheese industry, I've started an aggressive trapping campaign. Whenever I catch one, I immediately assign it to a cage in the kitchn. Most of the time, the maggots mysteriously disappear somewhere between getting picked up at the trapping area and getting to the cage. What's going on?

You need to tame them first, I think.

Some dwarves like the taste of maggot, too.

I've managed to cage an untamed maggot, and I'm pretty sure I've managed to milk one.
Whenever I try to tame a maggot, the dwarves say they can't find a suitable creature, even though the maggot is seating in a cage or a trap.

The maggots are getting eaten by your dwarves. Forbid them.

Tamed maggots can not be milked.

Can you milk forbidden maggots?

I'm sorry, I have nothing to add to this discussion except to point out that the above combination of words would be absurd (or worse) almost anywhere but on this forum.

Keep up the good work!

This is true.

Also, yes, they're being eaten. Sorry.
