I struggle time and time again to find a good place to embark.

Does anyone have a map with a known location where it has everything you need to begin a decent fortress? Magma Pipe etc.

Search this forum for 'dwarf heaven' and 'dwarf dream'.

They both have pretty much everything, but the first is a much harder embark than the 2nd. You'll also find some other good sites that compare to these two, including one still on the front page here.

I use a utility called UltraFinder (http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=38274.0).

Basically keeps genning worlds for you after you give it specific instructions. Takes awhile to find a good embark site but still it's a good utility.

That's odd, it has nothing to do with the actual link just the host site. It appears Dffd is down... that can't be good >_>
