Well, my ID is limited to my passport (didn't have much of a chance to get my drivers license while I was in the UAE), which not only lists me as a muslim, but has my first name on it as well.

Stick a piece of white construction paper into your collar and pretend to be catholic.
Funny thing, this is a Catholic village/town; you can see Christ crucified enough times on the way here.

You have to put your religion on your driver's license?

I think the critical concern is, does your ID listing you as Muslim actually prohibit the store from selling you beer?

This topic inspired me to do a search for the legal drinking age here. Apparently, I'm old enough but good luck hidding it around the house, or explaining to the cashier girl why a muslim is buying alcohol.

What, do you have to wear an "I'm A Muslim" tag?  Just say you're Buddhist or something.

Buddhism would probably not be the best choice, as The Buddha also frowns on that sort of thing. Although I guess I wouldn't expect your average cashier to know that.

Also, if the cashier actually asks, the correct response is "Because I'm one of the awesome Muslims", and be sure to buy some hot dogs and bacon at the same time.

Yeah, you're allowed to ignore as many commands of your religion as you like.  Even heavily orthodox people ignore some of them, so you can go ahead.

Although I do remember going to Egypt, where alcohol and pork is banned (or at least difficult to find, I forget).  Those beef sausages were very nice, as were the veal ones.

You could do like the teenagers here in America and just have someone else buy it for you.

Yeah, go have Yanlin buy it for you. He lives in Israel right? How far away could that be from Lebanon?

Just buy it dammit. They really don't have a right to judge your purchase.

so the old beer, compared to the new beer, is roughly the same. there's more of the new beer though. or. there was.

I live in the southern part of Israel. (Well actually... It's the city town below the central region. I think...)

Oh and the legal drinking age is 18. Can't buy beer and stuff.

Besides. I hate beer. Can't stand the taste.

Is it a different way in America?
Cause I think it's all the same in the rest of the [un]develop[ed/ing] world.

Normally you only need your religion on your ID.

Driver's license however? I see no valid reason for it.

Indeed.  That's most definitely one of those "separation of church and state" things.  American driver's licenses, and any government ID in America, certainly doesn't list religion.  I'm a little surprised you'd have to ask.

I was baptized a catholic, and since wine and thus alcohol is the blood of christ, the more I drink, the holier I get.
Regardless of the fact I think it's all a load of balls, but an excuse is an excuse.
