TACTICUS
« on: July 24, 2009, 06:12:43 pm »

Any of you gentlemen in the crowd fancy a titillating game of TACTICUS?

I should assume you know how to play, we shall use Panstheim v3.1415926535897932 core rules, any other rulebooks to be added on appropriately, of course.

I have no idea how to play.

But if you were to explain how I might join.

Of course I'll play.

Though we do need to decide if we should ban certain imbalanced versions of the Nist Akath and Boatmurdered rulesets ahead of time, and if we should add the unofficial UristCog Beginners Advantage Minirulebook.

Indeed, I have found a disturbing trend of recent novice players bending rules as to call Ironblood to the field, or even in the case of the match between Sir. Edmud Figglesworth vs. Salazar Pennyfeather III, a universe consisting of Ironblood particles trying to birth a new universe of Ironblood particles, the both of which fighting. Let me say it was vomiting on the very core principles of Tacticus.

I also propose we make this as gentlemanly as possible. That is, of course, if the "Single-eye eyewear and the applications thereof" textbook is considered valid. An interesting read it is.

A joke?

How could even you, an uncivilised lout, mistake the great game of tacticus for a joke?!

I would like to point you over here, one of out most ancient recorded games, here, a more recent example, and here, where you can ask the bookkeepers for more records.

Also, I am somewhat of an experienced player with the Single-eye eyewear and the applications thereof textbook, and have been for quite a while...

Ah, is it time for another game already? I wish to join. Incidentally, are the codex's of somewhat-less-then-infinite might versions 1-29 still outlawed in competitive play; as it's been an age since I was last able to use my Dwarvern Emperor figurine as it should be used.

Why, I thought this was a gentlemen's game! Of course the single-eye eyewear rulebook will be considered. And, do not forget, Single-Eye Eyewear: Revenge (v1.02) has banned Morul, Ironblood, and Oldbeard from the game, as well as weapons which erase the map. There also will be no tokens, and additional rules are to be hardcover books only- preferably rimmed in precious metal and/or gems. Books that menace with spikes will always be accepted as well.

Now, with the apparent lack of gentlemen in such times, I suppose perhaps we shall have to make due with the common folk.

To play TACTICUS:
Rules may be added as the game goes, excluding excluded books.
Inalienable rules:
Use dice or coins to determine the outcome of moves.
Summon combatants to the battlefield, players themselves do not fight (are we apes, I ask you??).
Order of play will be edited into the first post, wait your turn.
A visual field of play will be maintained, you are not REQUIRED to update it.

Anyone who wishes to explain more clearly may, I must leave or be late for tea.

Ah yes, A game of Tacticus.

I will of course join. I would also like to suggest that we try to limit the use of the Catspolosion rule from Pantsheim Ruleset: Animals and Other Pointless Annoyance Supplement. I was once in a game where the Catsplosion got to such an extent that, in our efforts to maintain the feel of the game, we had 7 truckloads of cat models delelivered (beutiful lower-case Cs made out of solid silver). Two of the players were tragically crushed to death when the models cascaded through the window. A gentlemanly death, admittedly... but still a rather messy one.

Yes, I too wish to see limitations placed on the cats. Crushed to death by them is routine, I'm afraid, and it's nothing compared to the game where the state of feline population expansion became so advanced that the mass of models achieved critical mass. That is why I had to buy a new house.

Oh yes, of course! An important clause of Pantsheim, audience members can effect the game.

I trust all of you understand to play- I will set the official roster in twelve hours.
