Bummer, as far as I can tell alien weapons are ultra rare. The ones I've got aren't anything to write home about. One was a really slow cannon that never hit anything, I already sold it. The other is pretty much a sort of machinegun that does 100 damage, I only keep it because it doesn't use ammo and is good for killing a critter or two :P

Anyway, this is my current rifle, and I love it, tho it only got 3 bullets (but it's a sniper rifle anyway, and tends to kill 2-3 enemies with each shot).



Good for its level.

Is it just me or is the DLC really easy compared to the rest of the game. I got an infinte ammo revolver that kills most regular zombies in  one body shot and fires at a pretty decent rate with explosive power, all bosses including the wereskag die to one magazine of a 12 levels old exploding machine gun i found in my first visit to old haven and the swarms of birds pretty much fall out of the sky when i even point my double anarchy at them.

Also, the brains fetch quest is absolutely retarded. "Headshot me 435 zombies in batches of 10,25,50,100 and 250. Headshots before starting the quest and those after a particular group has been completed but before turn in don't count. Happy grinding and fuck you."

Also, i can't seem to get the conveyor of death achievement/pile of xp while in the dlc. I killed about 30 zombies without pause with only time to reload and aim between them but the score is still stuck at 16, which it was before the dlc.

Question, does weapon expertise go up just by shooting or do i also have to hit something?

Neither.

You don't even have to do anything, in fact.  Weapon expertise level has been proven to rise when you're standing still in a safe zone while friends in a multiplayer game kill stuff.

Weapon expertise goes up with whatever weapon you have equipped each time you get a Kill.

I killed someone with my bird Bloodwing and my sniper or whatever I had equipped went up.

Guys, I've been getting lock-ups since I started playing Borderlands again two days ago. The screen just freezes, the mouse cursor doesn't work, but the music is still playing. The only way to get out of it is to either terminate the game using Task Manager or wait indefinitely (up to 10 minutes for me).

My specs:
Core 2 Duo P8600
2GB DDR-2
Mobility Radeon HD3650
Windows Vista Business 32-bit

GPU driver: 9.12 (most recent)

Note: I converted ATI's driver to be compatible with the mobile variant using MobilityModder's program. It has worked without a hitch with the previous two drivers (9.4 and 9.7) so it shouldn't be the issue.

Game version: 1.0.0 (not bothered with patches as there have been reports they introduced new problems)

This is on a system that just had a clean reformat. Game was running fine before. Only two things were changed: O/S (previously Windows Vista Home Premium) and GPU driver (previously 9.7). Had some lock-ups with 9.7 but at far less frequency and for much shorter duration. I reckon it's the GPU driver, so I may roll back but before I do that I want to do some research first.

Has anyone run into the same problem? If yes, has anyone figured out a solution?

EDIT: Solution found! I simply disabled ATI CCC AI. No more lock-ups.

Man I loved the DLC. Super fun, IMO. And while short, I actually found it really difficult (may be because it was the second playthrough version, and I was 4 levels below reccomended when I started) but also great fun. And I know the conveyor of death achievement works there, cause I got it.

Also, best alien weapon I found was like an alien lightning aura shotgun. That thing is beast.

I've got a character with four different cannons equipped as well, just switching every time I use the energy and cycling around...

But I've found 7 cannons, and only one other thing - I wonder, other than cannons, my shotty, and previously mentioned machine gun, what other alien weapons there are. Has anyone got one that is REALLY awesome?

The patch includes it by default.

Except it was pretty accurate. About 88. And it had recoil reduction and rate of fire.

So what did I do? I found a Heavy Gunner class mod that gave crazy amounts of extra capacity and rate of fire.

I chewed through EVERYTHING. Also ammo.

And then I found a SMG that fired four bullets per shot. No accuracy whatsoever, but that didn't matter. You pointed it at a wall and a second later there'd just be bullet holes.

And then I found a kickarse Pangolin shield with nearly double the capacity of the last shield I had found.

And then I shot Cthulhu in a rather anticlimactic finish, although I was kind of expecting an anticlimactic finish given what I've read on the internet.

Finnally got the game, and it is fun. Although everything is heavily outlined (not like i mind).

I have though, realized that i'm going to spend a very long amount of time completing sidequests. They just keep appearing and i can't just leave them be.

IIRC max. accuracy goes up to 98.7, but only sniper rifles can get that high. For a mid range gun 88 is good enough, and if you have high proficiency you can still use it like a sniper rifle.

So what did I do? I found a Heavy Gunner class mod that gave crazy amounts of extra capacity and rate of fire.

I have a level 50 soldier, and early on I used a Support Gunner mod (+20 team ammo regen and +10 skills in total) all the time. But when I reached playthrough 2 I found my killing power insufficient, so I changed to a Heavy Gunner (+70 mag size and +60% RoF), and respec into Supply Drop. Surprisingly a single point of Supply Drop (coupled with 5 Metal Storm, 5 Refire and 5 Deploy) is quite sufficient at keeping my ammo count maxed.

And then I found a SMG that fired four bullets per shot. No accuracy whatsoever, but that didn't matter. You pointed it at a wall and a second later there'd just be bullet holes.

Oh yeah... Double Anarchy. Find one with a decent clip size, and it will be the ultimate close quarter weapon. I keep one on my soldier for getting second wind.

And then I found a kickarse Pangolin shield with nearly double the capacity of the last shield I had found.

Lucky you... I am still trying to find a nice shield for PT2 (currently using a quick healing one with 1400 shield and about 140 recharge). In PT2 if the enemies think about my shield, my shield evaporates. Originally I had max points in skills boosting turret damage, but in PT2 I had to pull them out to get Quick Charge in order to venture out of cover.

I haven't applied any patch yet - since the patch only causes more problems and fixes nothing I couldn't by editing the INI files.

Plus I hate the online-activation SecureROM. The 2nd patch fixes nothing and adds that SecureROM to make the game compatible with the DLCs. No doubt the 3rd patch will force SecureROM down my throat too.

Though people found that the patch notes do not contain everything fixed - there're lots of hidden changes. Stupid GearBox devs.

So in case you don't want to use the patch:

Edit file: Borderlands\WillowGame\Localization\gd_globals.INT
Replace:
AttributePresentationTranslation="$NUMBER$ $CONSTRAINT$ $DESCRIPTION$"
With:
AttributePresentationTranslation=<font size="14">$NUMBER$ $CONSTRAINT$ $DESCRIPTION$</font>

You can use a smaller number if you can read it, since some items have really long descriptions that can wrap into the 6th line.

I found a relatively high-accuracy(!) Double Anarchy that, with a class mod and a bunch of soldier skills, I can put 150 bullets in.

Yeah, yeah it kills things pretty fast.

Also, can I quite quests? I joined an online match and got every stupid fetch quest that I deliberately skipped over, and several quests I wasn't supposed to be able to get yet which obviously causes lots of quest structure problems (I have part 1 and another part of the cultist quest simultaneously, for example).

And what's up with the drawbridges in Rust Commons West? I managed to do some acrobatiflyin' and get around with the one with the claptrap and tag a New-U, but I probably wouldn't have needed to do that if not for the hoohah regarding quests received online.
