Uh, what?
Reference to the SR-71 "Blackbird" strategic reconnaissance aircraft. Cold war era ramjet powered spy plane that flies so fast that it's components expand because of the heat generated by friction. The interior walls of it's fuel tank intentionally don't fit together when at room temperature, but when they expand they seal up correctly. If it was fitted correctly on the ground, it would burst when flying at mach 3. A shame they stopped making them and destroyed all of the blueprints and tools as a goodwill gesture towards russia in the cold war.

memory is leaking like a blackbird on the runway.
What kind of an analogy is that?

Anyways, at maxed settings I'm seeing a maximum usage of 1.2GB, after active usage for ~16 hours (yay having people play the game while I'm not here)
That's not even as much as Supreme Commander will use after ONE hour.

I see no leak. (Unlike SupCom)
A leak causes continually INCREASING usage, not continually HIGH usage.
The game would almost certainly crash on 32-bit systems if it had a true leak.

Wow, interesting fact to know. That aircraft was a beautiful work of art. Fortunately, X-Men have managed to restored one to working order.  ;D

Er, the x-men version only looks like it on the outside, except it's bigger.

Thought I'd share some of what I found.

This one has the corrosive effect every single shot.

This one has infinite ammo.

Nice but ... the first one has only 2 ammo for one reload and the second one has not infinite ammo but infinite magazine

There is definetly a memory leak. Interesting fact is, it doesnt seem to be happening for everybody. So it has to be hardware related. But yeah, I'm one of the lucky folks on a 32 bit system that doesnt crash from borderlands. (edit; google it, people crash reliably after fixed amounts of time, maybe like the following error I describe its also jsut related to a certain setting)

BUT!

I still have some funky error ;) If I disable dynamic shadows, the game starts to run more smoothly. All fine so far right? Well, no. It starts to stutter real bad, for no real reason, randomly. framerate drops to like 10 or so.

If I enable dynamic shadows again, it stops the stuttering :o

And I'm glad somebody got the blackbird reference ;D I wanted to avoid anything with bedwetting, which would have been the obvious one ;D

First, the first one reloads extremely quickly. Second, a critical hit with it will kill a Lance Marine in one hit. If it doesn't kill an enemy in one hit, the corrosive effect will.

And saying that the second does not have infinite ammo but an infinite magazine is kind of... Irrelevant, isn't it?

Well, assuming it isn't supposed to mean "infinte magazine" but "magazine as big as your ammo supply" it's a difference.

Also, if you had unlimited ammo but no unlimited clip, it'd mean you'd have to reload every 12 shots.

But I still dont know: do you run out after you emptied your repeater ammo, or do you never run out AND you dont have to reload?

The gun does not consume any ammunition whatsoever, either from the clip, or from your stored ammo. You can fire it continuously; forever.

Yeah, I have the dove too.  It doesn't consume ammo and never has to be reloaded.  It makes up for this by kind of sucking.

Oh well, apart from battling weird config issues (the random stutter I get every now and then if I DISABLE the friggin shadows really confuses me...) I had a lot of fun with the game too.

So far I tried mordecai up to ca. lvl25 as well as roland. I really love the instakill style you're able to get from mord if you just put some skillpoints in the right place. If you ignore the bloodwing tree (which I do, because I dont like it, and yes, I know, it can be awesome, I just dont want to use it) you got skillpoints for everything and then some.

Here's the build I use and love: http://talent.87bazillion.com/hunter.php?550500500000005500055
Last 5 points go either into the health regen thing of the pistolero tree or the clipsize of the sniper tree, depending on style. Usually, even as a biiiig sniper rifle fan, I dont really care about clipsize or firerate of those guns, since I take my time to line up crits. Might as well go regeneration to be able to go gung ho every once in a while.

I played with a friend of mine, who is a real princess and hogged the mordecai role off me. I thought, why not, been playing hunter way to long anyway, why not try the soldier.

DAMNIT this was frustrating, since killing is a lot slower. Once I found (and this happened only at lvl25...) a support machine gun with a huge clip and an amazing ROF (only mehish damage, but wth) I rearranged my skills to Stat! (regenerate health of yourself and people nearby upon kill).

I now can go gung ho all the time, which sort of is fun too! I just wish I had 10 more points so I could get stat and metal storm. Oh well, it wont be long, and then it'll be REVENZE!

This is what I'm working with right now, I still have more leveling to do, but I don't know where I'll put the rest of the talents.

Trespass is awesome.  I was one-shotting people with pistols, assault rifles, whatever I had on hand.  I don't see how I lived without it.

You either screwed up that link and linked exactly the page I linked due to some copy paste mistake, or we play the same build ;D innit awesome?

Might as well follow my train of thoughts regarding the last 5 points ;)

Some people say trespass is useless-ish, unless you fight enemies with shields, but heck, since rifle base dmg is sky high AND you get high % bonus from caliber I'd even spend the 5 points for 5% bullet damage increase if it wasnt shield bypassing ;)

It messed up.  I also took the bonus rifle capacity and riotous remedy, but didn't take the ultimate gunslinger talent, at least not yet.
