Brick plays wildly different imo. You WILL make use of his skill CONSTANTLY. Hes also drop dead fucking hillarious to watch him punch the living SHIT out of everything with exploding fists.  And Roland has some pretty pro team helping skills. Ammo regenerating, healing turret with a shield. Healing. Fucking. Bullets. Nothing beats shooting your buddy in the face with a shot gun to heal him. Who ever thought of that is a fucking genius if you ask me.

I think brick is my favorite so far. Just something awesome about charging like a bull at people and punching them to death. I started with mordecai, he was okay. Went to Lilith, I got the farthest with her, but kinda stalled at sledge's safehouse.  Roland was a pain. I still haven't gotten the hang of him. But Brick... he's just "Bullets? Tiny bullets not hurt me! I PUNCH!" Yes, I think of him more as the TF2 heavy than himself.

I finished it now at lvl 37 and was immensely disappointed that the final boss dropped 3 white quality guns, 36 rounds of assault rifles, 2 grenades, 6 pistol rounds, 18 sniper bullets 4 rockets and a green grenade mod. On the way there i found an exploding sniper that can oneshot Lance Engineers and Lance Defenders if it procs(my 400+ damage regular sniper can't), a revolver that shoots shotgun style bullets at ridiculous accuracy and a 94x12 assault rifle with a 72 bullet magazine, no recoil and explosions, which outdamaged my other 122x13 assault rifle by about 50%. Conclusion: Explosions ere overpowered.

Against he final boss i just aimed at his weak point and held the trigger down until he died. A 700/150 shield with very fast recharge and a class mod that gives +7 health regen meant i didn't even have to care about the special attacks or the other enemies. On second thought, what's the point of being allowed to spec snipers, pistols or birds when the most damaging weapon i can find is an old fashioned continuous dakka dakka stick?

And my long standing suspicions that

was evil were proven correct. In fact, i think the sequel takes place 200 years after this game and features a private army sent by Hyperion.

Heh, the game isn't 2 weeks old, yet already there is talk of a sequel? I think that proves that the game is at the very least moderately good.

Darnit, I clicked the spoiler without thinking.

Oh well, I saw that coming a mile away.

Also, Patricia is so tsundere desu

Also also,

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The proletariat is pleased.  I got that in Jaynistown, in the gun chest behind that really high fence.  I dropped grenades and jumped to try to launch myself over.  Made it on the sixth grenade.  I had been using a white sniper rifle because I couldn't find any decent ones.

I'm screaming "Insert sequel here," as are many other fans, I imagine. I will eat up so much DLC for this game.

That all sounds vaguely inappropriate.

Apparently there's some weird bug, where guns can have up to ten mods or something ridiculous like that, but they'll only display the first five (or however many) if you look at them. Not sure if it's been mentioned yet.

Not quite.
They get a maximum of ten stats.
Five of those are the damage/accuracy/fire rate/ammo count/bullets per shot.
That leaves five lines for the card.
The regular font only shows four.

Its been figured out that guns can have up to 15 different mods.  After you mod the text to show 5+ lines, a guy got a sniper rifle that had zoom, and 5 other bonuses, but it did not list the zoom, proving that atleast 6 bonuses, not including rate, damage, accuracy and clip are on weapons. There is a 40+ page topic all about this on the gbx forums.

Oh, btw ;D That coop session was fun, despite the lag. However, for some reason the connection dropped in that cave with those crystals. Since it was late, I decided to get to bed rather than to do the polite thing and try to reconnect only to say "night" ;)

Fun fact: after that game I seem to have some sort of killer aim in a lagfree environment. I shoot flea pubies at 2 kilometres no probs now.

edit: and, of course, 2 minutes into continuing that game later on in solo mode - I found the most badass shotgun. At least I think so, not that I have a clue. 13 Pellets. I think. Awesome scope design (basically useless, but hey it looks cool!). Plus dmg and fire damage.

For clarification: we were playing as Brick (Grish) and Mordecai (me) and the game thought it would be fun to swamp us with sniper rifle drops.

Indeed, it was pretty fun. I figured something went wrong. Sorry I didnt accept your invite earlier today, I have a torrent going and Im going to be severly laggy.

On a side note, I decided to do a different kind of playthrough. I was reading it on the GBX forums and its pretty fun.

Sponsor Mode
At the start of the game, you pick ONE gun manufacturer, and use only thier stuff. I picked Hyperion because they are rarer to find, and are pretty decent guns. So Ill end up with using the same guns for a while, but when I get a new one, it will be a huge boost. Im also only using Hyperion nades, which seems to only be the teleporting ones. Ill try to use only Hyperion sheilds if they make them, but I havent seen any yet. Im on the fence about class mods though.

So far I have a 3 round burst assault rifle and a shotgun with 65 accuracy. Its pretty awesome. The start sucked because I only had a repeater rifle. Try taking out level 15 Alpha Skags with a lvl 2 repeater rifle. Good times.

Edit: Yeah Puck, that always happens to me with drops in co-op. I was playing with a few other bay12ers and I was Roland using Combat Rifle spec, and combat rifle ammo NEVER dropped. It was always shotgun. Never failed. "Oh look at all this fucking SHOTGUN ammo... RAEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEJ". "OMG I got a combat rifle clip! It must be fucking Christmas."

I would go the easy route and pick Dahl or Vladov for my sponsor.

Hyperion does indeed make shields.  I'm not sure what's different about them, if anything.

And longbow grenades rule.

Also, remember
Spoiler: this? (click to show/hide)

I found it again.  Now it's purple, has a six round clip, is faster, and has a scope.  Its spread is small enough that from 20+ feet, you still get three or four pellets in the head if you aim.  It got upgraded just so I would love it again.  I'm so sorry I ever abandoned you, little buddy.  Every time I fired a lesser shotgun, I thought of you.

Yeah, it seems that Hyperion only makes shields with fire resist, as thats all Ive seen them make so far. I found a Hyperion shield and equipped it even though I had a better one at the moment.  Its pretty tough doing this, as you end up dropping alot of good guns that you probably would normally use.

I do have a few good guns still. I have that shotgun that I use for close combat, a purple SMG that isnt half bad, but I dont really use it that much, and an amazing combat rifle. It has something like 56 damage, and is a 3 round burst, has a scope. And the best part? 96 accuracy. I can zoom in and aim for the head, and hit atleast 2 of 3 rounds from the burst in the head. Sometimes all three, its amazing.

Im level 22 or so right now and I am running around with level 14 guns. :P  Its great fun and it really helps you to appreciate the manufacturers, I would recommend it to anyone that has beat the game.

You could also pick something like Teodore or one of those, but they generally have worse guns than the more rare companies. I might do one with Atlas, since they make some great guns too. Mainly the Glorious Havoc machine gun, that thing is a beast if you get an Atlas one. The other ones arent so great, but that one is a gem.
