I wonder, are pearlescants only unlockable past level 60? I have yet to find any, but I found crap-tons of S&S merchandise (dark orange).
I heard that pearlescants are only found in DLC3, and Crawmerax is the one who drops them most frequently (but the chance is still small).

EDIT:
The only DLC that scales up with your level is Mad Moxxi's arena (and this is a constant scaling. I think it averages with various levels of players if multiple, but the number of targets also scales according to how many players, I think the round features are scaled up as well). Everywhere else is at a certain level range apiece, staring from Ned's Zombies to Fort Knoxx to Robot Revolution. Ned's is the lowest (and that is only just after beating the original game you should be at-level), and Claptraps being the hardest/highest levels, although Knoxx's guys can still give you a run for your money if they get too concentrated in numbers.
That has been changed in the latest patch 1.41 (which also adds DLC4 compatibility). After you finish PT2, everything everywhere will scale up to your level, going beyond the area's original max level.

Stupid question, I know, but I am curious, can I go through PT2 for a good while, beef myself and my arsenal up even more, and then return to PT1 and take on Crawmerax? That was one of the reasons why I've been hesitant about moving into PT2. Considering it's pretty much a New Game+, would it be another layer of difficulty only, and I can switch back to PT1 without any loss?

You can return to PT1 for any unfinished quests, or just wander around killing respawned enemies and bosses. The enemies however won't level up that much with you - they will hit the original designated level cap, so they will die very quickly and the items they drop will be useless for you.

There are some bosses that won't respawn - like King Wee Wee. In PT2 you can skip those quests until you complete PT2 (killing Destroyer and/or turning in the quest to Tannis). Then when you choose PT2, the game actually goes into PT2.5 mode, where everything levels up to your level. The bosses will then drops things much more valuable. To get the best possible loot, don't fight them until you hit level cap!

At what level can you do the "extra" levels that the DLC give? 1, 10, 20? Or can you just go whenever and the game will scale it up?

The base game has patches for DLC compatibilities. The latest one, 1.41, gives the base game a new level cap of 69. You can get to the top of all skill trees now.

I completed playthrough 1 with Mordecai a few days ago, I didn't farm anything, and I was level 37 when I killed the final boss. Then you can start PT2, which will bring you pretty close to level 50. After completing PT2 you can replay PT2; no more quests unless you left some of them undone in PT2 on purpose, but enemies and most bosses respawn and scale to your level. So fans call it PT2.5.

Edit: I tried to farm the armory once more... but was greatly disappointed. It seems I've already got all the good ones it can generate, so I killed myself and went right back in and completed the DLC. Strange that some side quests don't pop up until you're done with the main quest!

You gotta look for actual smoke trails, the map doesnt tell you their locations. If you really cant see them, just walk along the edge of the map and you should find them.

I command thee, thread, to arise!

*ahem* So i got back into this lately and decided to go for all the side-stuff and whatnot. Is Crawmerax in PT 2.5 even possible solo? There was supposedly a hiding spot in previous versions but now it auto-kills me, so that's out. Seems like even with 3500 shields and 1400 life I get 2-shotted and can't crank out enough damage to scratch the weak points, even if I could hold out long enough to do so. Am I missing something, or is this really forcing me to group with random savemodders and cheaters?

Thinking of getting this game, a bit too bloody for my tastes, but... the gun hoarding... The EPICNESS....
My computer is pretty old but I think I meet all the requirements but graphics card. Radeon X300 or something.
If I force DX9 and turn down shadows/effects/resolution/etc. do you think it'll run?

Braaaaains.

Also, I solo'd the game with Lilith. There was a lot of respawning involved, but I managed it. Leveled up a bunch of the assassin skills, then abused my 'f' key like no tomorrow. Gotta love doing a massive amount of damage in one punch.

Also, a while back I found a six-shot caustic shotgun of some sort that utterly violated Crimson Lance units. It was extra effective against armor, apparently. Eventually sold it when I found that electrical Eridian shotgun. I have a thing for two-shot shotguns; I used Sledge's shotgun from the time I got it up to the time I got to New Haven.

Not sure about everyone else, beyond a propensity to hate on the game for what it is, sometimes.
Me, no one ever wanted to play, the matchmaking is shit, and I literally have everything I care to farm for that isn't a Crawmerax drop. I can't solo Craw, can't join a legit MP game to kill it, so my time with the game is essentially over.

Also, Eridian guns aren't fit to throw away. </haughty>

Yeah, Lilith is quite overpowered. She has a perfect "get away safely" skill. You can setup the skill to heal you, boost your resistances on exit and damage enemies.

If you like shotgun, you should make a Soldier. He has shotgun enhancing skills; at high levels you will even be able to use those more accurate shotguns as sniper rifles. You definitely should keep a corrosive gun for Crimson Lance though.

But wait, you just reached New Haven and you've already fought Crimson Lance? I thought they only show up in quests you get from New Haven.

I didn't even know there was a Borderlands thread. I love this game, even though I haven't played it much recently. I've beaten the main game and the Dr. Ned DLC with my Berserker (dear god, no class should be this much fun to play), and about 3/4 of the way through General Knoxx.

I built him as an unkillable tank. Shield strength over 2000, HP over 1000, and if he gets low on health? BRAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH!!!! Instant rocket-loaded facepunching and megaheal to boot. I literally cannot remember when my last respawn was. As in, I think I've made it through the entire General Knoxx DLC so far without dying.

I like my Mordecai. Built him to use Bloodwing almost instantly (1 sec cooldown, IIRC), and deal incredible damage with it. It was useless with Mr. Craw, but he utterly eliminated every single pack of enemy in front of him.

Also used a Corrosive Tediore Equalizer, with that 2 or something ammo capacity mod. It was awesome, and it was even useful against Craw's spawned baddies.
