I've personally found launchers to be totally useless, and I even play Brick with (formerly) some launcher buffs.  They just don't do as much damage as you'd think they're suppose to.  Splash damage degrades rapidly, but it's nigh impossible to actually land a rocket on a target smaller than the huge boss guys.  Looking at the wiki, it would appear that this is actually the result of a bug in how splash damage works or something, and that launchers are supposed to be a lot more dangerous.

Oh yeah, remembered the name of that shotgun I've been using. Painful Death. Fits it like a glove.

I've handled dozens of shotguns and seen plenty more, and every single time, I come back to the same title.  Terrible Matador.  I don't bother with anything less.

I also had a Leviathan. (probably quest-specific) It's the most useless rocket launcher ever, despite massive damage and great accuracy. Especially great accuracy, since what it does is lob flaming grenades. Fun when you're killing mooks from a high vantage point (or providing artillery support maybe), but utterly useless in most combat situations I could think of.

Leviathan is a quest reward for killing Rakk Hive. Afterwards Rakk Hive will drop it sometimes.

Someone found a use for Leviathan. He used it to shoot things he cannot reach normally.

I love Maliwan's two-shot revolvers. Having all three of mine have x3 or x4 elemental properties and do nearly 200 damage is a big plus.

Liquid snipers are simply the best. They seem to only have slightly worse damage than the other snipers ive found, but a ridicilously better fire rate.

Snipers are just all-around awesome. Started a new game, got a decent sniper that does 170 damage and 730(!) when it crits, 2 shotted Nine-toes and the dude that gives the SMG that shoots 2 bullets with it and instakilled anything else. Right now the situation with another really good liquid sniper is, if I can hit it, it dies.

Sadly havent gotten a decent revolver this game, only a good shotgun, although I do love 12 shot shotguns, just pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow...

They also reload pretty quickly too, so I always kept one as my main sniper weapon. Of course, right after I maxed the skill that lets you ignore shields I got a Volcano. Elemental effects don't get the effects of the skill, so the fire effect would hit the shields anyway.

It was still like they weren't even there, even on the guardians. All the asses were kicked with that thing.

All of them.  In my case, I swapped around between a pretty accurate Atlas machinegun with a like 60-ish clip, and an Explosive shotgun.  My good ol' Tediore Terrible Matador (OLE) with 12-round clip and melee spike handles basically everything, but the other weapons seemed to do better chewing through Guardian shields.  I experimented with a 4x Static shotgun I found somewhere, but it didn't seem any more effective, and was too cumbersome to switch back to something effective against Lances.

The Terrible Matadors are downright brutal. Mine has elements close to a hunter's shotgun (accuracy and a fast reload; despite 2 SPC) while being deadly. I essentially have a sniper shotgun that can deal some serious damage. I'm just looking for one similar that also has elemental properties (corrosive, especially).

Still, this shotgun has made a joke out of anything within 5 levels above me for a good while. I have a sniper shotgun pistol as well (x7-x11 decent shot damage (somewhere in the 150s), really accurate, and at least 6 rounds per clip). I have one other with a shock element included with a scope, but a tad weaker than my regular kinetic sans scope.

That's one of the things I like about this game, so many good weapon types. I've found that SMGs with Lilith are borderline broken. I used other weapons with her simply to keep the game from being too easy, and always had at least 1 SMG that I'd have around as my "Ok, I need to get serious" gun.

Each person is broke in some way. Roland, every kill brings your shield up and makes you a bullet spewing machine. Grenades come back after every kill. Shooting each other for health. Ammo regen mod. :P He's just a big tank.

Yeah, I appreciate the four weapon slots and large inventory just to give me something to experiment with.  Sure, my 12-shot melee+ Terrible Matador can wreck the shit of anyone in front of me, and my Atlas Glorious Machinegun can crew up anyone at more than arm's reach, that gets boring in a hurry.  So I play around with anything else I find, just to get a feeling for other weapons and keep things fresh.

I found one launcher that was worth a shit. I "think" it was the Pestilent Mongol. The first rocket explodes into clusters, that explode into clusters, that explode into clusters. Fired into the air, it rains down probably about 15 corrosive explosions. When it detonates directly on a target.....they pretty much take every single one of those clusters.

The damage isn't always spectacular, but you fire it and it's just like....Boom....boom boom boom....boom boom boom boom boom....BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM. It just never ends.

I had good luck with some 5-shot launchers. Took some getting used to before I really got the aiming down, but eventually it was a great way to clear out clusters of enemies. Skags, generally. And zombies in the DLC.

I tried Zombie Island for the first time... it's annoying for Mordecai (Gunslinger)! They kept spawning from all directions, and I had to aim and shoot every one of them. Not to mention the vomit smear on display and the slowing effect. With Roland or Lilith things will be much easier, just strafe and spray, and watch them fall.

So I left and went to do General Knoxx first... and just found out there's no New-U stations in all DLCs. On my way to Prison I failed a jump in a Monster and fell onto a bomb. I died, and setting off another bomb doesn't give you a second wind. Plus the game respawn me somewhere in the desert, not on the highway, with no Catch-a-Ride nearby, lots of wild alpha skags and bandit vehicles on the way. :'(

I did Zombie Island at like level 17, so it was leveled to 15 and I sort of broke it. The first loading screen hint I got was that zombies were weak to explosive damage, so I got a two-shot x4 explosive revolver and went to town. Of course I had sniper perks so I was determined to utilize my liquid sniper rifle. I got pretty good at snapshot headshots.

I died like 15 times adjusting to the roadways of the Knoxx DLC. Avoid all bombs because they are instadeath, don't engage the Lancers because they will fuck you up unless you are also in a Lancer, always move when a Floater or whatever they are called starts shooting acid at you because they will fuck you up, be careful with skag riders or they will fuck you up, be careful with midgets with explosives or they will fuck you up, etc.
