Roguelike mode with the most simple way of randomizing maps (ie dungeon made of modules) would have gone a long way...
...To making it soul-crushingly boring.

I understand people wanting good random dungeons, but unless they have a good generator you end up seeing the set pieces and no location is interesting anymore. It's just some rather rigid set pieces you keep seeing. If they scrapped random generation then they probably couldn't find a way of making it fun to go through.

A few weeks ago some Penny Arcade dudes were playing so I was able to achieve the prophecy: Reach level 30 before leaving to New Haven. Five levels later I beat the game.

I know I broke it to some extent, but it felt kinda short. I guess the plot was never something given high praise for, but I'm fine with that. The only thing that miffed me: The rewards for beating the final boss sucked! I'm gonna be doing the General Knoxx DLC so I can get some better loot that my character deserves.

Also found a Volcano with my sniper guy, so things have been a blast recently.

I'm up to the point in the game where you check on some signals in Old Haven. Somehow, nearly all of my elemental equipment has been upgraded to electric types. That's been all well and good as most bandits usually die with one hit of my lightning revolver or lightning sniper anyway, but now I'm up against armor. Luckily, I've got an ancient caustic matador that I've had for six levels and very soon in the level a caustic sniper dropped. It's been interesting having to make do with equipment that does less than half the damage I'm used to. I find myself relying on acid wing to soften up enemies more and more.

I've got a nice little combo going. Pop any shields that may exist with my lightning sniper, throw acid wing, and take pot shots with my weaker caustic weapons. I still have to be wary around the multiple badasses, though.

What do you know, right at the end of the level I pick up a sweet little vitriolic sniper that rivals my electric version.

As long as there's an active thread for Borderlands: Has anyone else run into quest-breaking bugs in the Zombie DLC?  Namely, where you have to collect recorders and broadcast the ECHOs.  I don't know what I did, but I managed to do the "send the broadcast part" after collecting the recorders, but the "collect the recorders" part wasn't marked as completed.  So now the quest can't be finished, and the storyline can't continue.  (Not to mention the quest map-markers are all broken.)

And I can't believe it took me until Playthrough 2 to finally get a random shotrocket.  And damn do they suck.

Something similar happened to me in the original game where you're supposed to talk to a claptrap and speak to Tannis. Turns out you can bypass the locked terminal the claptrap was supposed to enable and go straight to Tannis. The quest marker stayed centered on her. I solved it by finding the claptrap and speaking to it. I no read good. You already completed the objectives. In that case, I have no idea.

Just now I fought the easiest boss ever, Baron Flynt. While I'm fighting his minions, he decides to swan dive off of the Thor, taking his Boom Stick with him.

Oh, hey. What luck. It was lying at the foot of Thor. It's just vendor fodder, though.

When things like this happen, I am really happy that Borderlands has coop.  Join the game of someone who is doing the quest and then you have another chance to complete it.

I thought you had to pick the recorder back up after broadcasting, it should be in the tray you put it in.

I've recently come across this game, and am now playing through as Roland. Going for mostly shotguns, I found a perfect weapon for the cause - 56x7 damage, 5 rounds, 1.something rounds a second, accuracy 82. Was blowing off heads with it until it became clear the power was insufficient. So eventually I went through several assault rifles and machineguns, and eventually settled... on a revolver.

That has to be the single most broken weapon I've seen in this game. And I've seen a 890-damage airburst rocketlauncher, so that says something.
It doesn't quite one-shot Badass Lance Defenders, but can easily OHK normal ones with a well-placed headshot. Its only drawbacks are lack of a scope, and a 2-round drum, though it offsets the latter with a quick reload, and the former isn't much of a problem since the spread it does have ensures that, at the range you'd need a scope for, at least some of the slugs hit the target. So that's that. Power of a shotgun, range of a sniper rifle, size of a pistol. To top it all off, with the flat 2-round drum it looks kinda like an old flintlock. Set me back 144K when I bought it, barely scraped that amount up.  Love this thing to bits.

Mashers are, IMO, the best weapons in game. A shotgun blast magnum? Uh yeah. I've used some Mashers for entire game. Pestilent Masher? Fire Masher? Explosive Masher? It doesn't matter. Stick that thing in almost any creature's face and pull the trigger and they are fucking toast.

They basically make standard revolvers a joke. Find one with a 4 or 6-shot capacity and good damage, and all you need is one other crap weapon to switch to for emergencies. They're that good.

Malevolent SMGs are also godly. 249 damage, 4x scope, +48% damage, +50% accuracy, 78 accuracy, 16 fire rate, +49% fire rate, and +50 clip. So I have a gun that fires about 4 bullets a second, each doing about 400-450 damage, as accurate as a sniper, with a clip of 90. Add the soldiers kill perks, and ammo regen mod, and it's a monster. Kill one guy and zoom in for a stream of headshots.

Probably the all around best weapon I ever had was a some kind of Dahl super Cobra, purple quality.  Its shot-grouping was truly laser accurate, it banged off all three shots instantly, and the reload was about a third of a second.  Only disadvantage was no real scope, but with that accuracy it didn't even really need one.  I was mostly shotgun exclusive before I found it, but took Machine Gun proficiency from like 5 to 11 with that one gun.  Eventually, the damage just wasn't good enough anymore though, but I haven't sold it.  It's too nice to sell.

Aye, a Bloody Cobra was my weapon of choice at some point as well. Quick bursts, pinpoint accuracy, decent damage. Though mine was a Hyperion. And had an eye-gouginly awful red-black paintjob.

Oh yeah, remembered the name of that shotgun I've been using. Painful Death. Fits it like a glove.

I also had a Leviathan. (probably quest-specific) It's the most useless rocket launcher ever, despite massive damage and great accuracy. Especially great accuracy, since what it does is lob flaming grenades. Fun when you're killing mooks from a high vantage point (or providing artillery support maybe), but utterly useless in most combat situations I could think of.

Adding to that, with all the bonuses, it's fire rate is 24, 588 dmg, 140 accuracy. If that's not over powered, once I get a kill, it's fire rate jumps to 36, or 50%. Shoots about 8 bullets a second.

List,
Malevolent Stinger,
Dmg: 588
Acc: 140
FR: 24
Clip: 90
Funneh thing is, it does like 4-5 damage to Crawmerax, so I'm never gonna kill him.
