My steam name is (PhD) Scylla Serrata, my gamespy name is Level_8_Mudcrab. I'm in Australia, close enough to Melbourne, which I think is GMT +11.

I'm about level 29 now, I found two orange weapons so far.  A repeater and a revolver.  Bah.

I'm Naxza on Steam and am in -6:00 GMT. That's U.S. Central time.

Throw me a message any time.

Uncomfortably my PC can't run Borderlands so I'm playing the console version.

I'm [DFC] Charmander on Steam, unsurprisingly. Donkeytastic on Gamespy, probably. BST at the moment, so...

If I'm around, holler. I'll probably be up for a game. I generally am. No idea if it actually works, though. Still, I guess I can burn that bridge when I get to it.

Beat Borderlands.
Spoiler: Ending (click to show/hide)

One of the thanks quotes at the end is, "Your mom."

I'm doing the second playthough now.  I have an orange SMG that I love.  It's a something Hellfire.  I found it on an enemy in Old Haven, go figure.

#4. The co-op play. Again, this had me really excited. A full-blown co-op shooter/Diablo hybrid? But they planned it out so fucking poorly.
If that's what interests you, I would have suggested Hellgate: London a few years ago. Now that the servers are down, it's only good for single-player.

I bought that game, I have it sitting around here somewhere. It is fuckbad, it's like they gave up partway through making it.

Yea, the ending is a little weird.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And I never did figure out where you go to fight the ninja claptrap. Srsly.

On the positive side, the gameplay makes up for the lackluster plot. Probably going to buy Zombie Island and possibly Noxx later. Everyone says to stay away from Underdome.

I remember this game.. played it through alone the first time and I quite enjoyed it, then I played with friends and it was a little less enjoyable. Playing with strangers online was horrible. So I'd the the co-op aspect was executed fairly poorly  in general, unless you all start at the same time and actually talk to each other/have good chemistry..

Also I saw NO point in the second playthrough. Okay, so I could get some harder hitting weapons and face some tougher challenges with differently skinned enemies. But it was all the same crap! ALL THE SAME! JUST WITH MORE FRUSTRATION! WHY? THAT IS NOT FUN. Anyway I loved the art style and initial game play, the bosses were all pretty fun but it seemed like they were just "shoot em until they drop". Maybe I've forgotten though.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

All in all I'd say it was a great experience, but a lot of things could have been improved on, obviously. I can't wait for more FPS games like this. FPS and RPG can mix really well if they're done right.

Ugh, rocket shotguns. Inaccurate as all get out and they did less damage than a regular shotgun or revolver. I could have an enemy entirely covering the targeting circle (very freakin close range) and still miss. I'd rather use a cluster rocket launcher or forget missiles entirely and use a sniper rifle and a little skill to explode heads like rotten cabbage. Even against large enemies, you'd be better off with a high capacity gun like an SMG or Machine Gun for their raw damage output.

Yeah, a lot of the weapons were awesome in concept, but absurdly shitty when it came down to it. That includes multi-rocket launchers and spiral smgs.

I mostly stuck with non-elemental sniper rifles for the higher accuracy and base damage, then switched to corrosive shotguns once I realized the crimson lance were weak against corrosive. Then I realized I could just run through without fighting and blew through the last couple of levels in half an hour.

ZOMG, Zombie Island! Second playthrough just has to be harder than either of the others. I've heard that Second adds 30 or so to all enemy levels and Third makes all enemy levels equal to yours. I'm 30. The zombies at the very beginning of the island are 50 or something like that. I died. Quickly. Even with an insane volcano weapon.

It's not actually. The second playthrough spawns a lot more enemies and each of them are tougher. Especially the spider ants. Running around those deserts with lots of spider ants spawn points is fun.

I finally found a GOOD Eridian weapon! Hallelujah!
Good fire rate, and recharge rate, decent damage, instant traversal (its a lightning laser), and 100% accuracy, plus a really high chance of decent elemental damage.

My best weapon is still a rocket launcher though; 500% burst fire count, 4xFire, increased reload speed, and extremely high elemental effect chance. I don't even know what its base damage is. I don't care! BURN BABY BURN.

It helps that, playing Lilith, every rocket is pretty much guaranteed to set fire (which stacks, by the way) and I do an additional 60% fire damage or so.

And urghhh, Underdome. I WILL beat a mission there, damn it!

Has anyone beaten Crawmerax the Invincible yet? The best me and my brother could manage was killing a single one of his minions.

Underdome Riot is hailed as the worst Borderlands DLC. It's basically an arena, which pretty much requires four competent players to be doable. It's only viable if you have three good friends to work with you. Otherwise, you're screwed.

My best gun was an orange SMG on Lilith with level 4 fire, ridiculous rate of fire, and decent damage. I could easily take down the crimson soldiers without needing to even aim, just pump shots into their shield and let the fire procs, which seemed to penetrate even the invulnerable shield, take them down in five seconds. Unfortunately, it could barely hurt the vault guardians, so I had to switch to a white pistol which had shock damage. I hated that last part, the vault guards are almost impossible to kill without shock damage, and the only shock weapon I had was a rocket launcher. Good luck hitting anything with that.
