I've found SMGs and Rocket Launchers to both be very useful for my Lilith. But that's because I am very much the elementalist.

I have a 5xAutoLauncher with x4 very high effect chance incendiary, and a very good x4 caustic smg with high effect chance. Combine them with my super high electric damage eridian sniper weapon (only goddamn good eridian weapon I've found in the game since my lv25 Eridian Shock-Shotty, but at least I finally found one at level 56). Basically, I rush in with rockets, fire, acid blast, phasewalk damage, blast again, rockets again, then switch to the smg to clean up. Especially with teammates filling the place with lead, enemies go down quick even with lots of health. It also helps that rockets with a high level Lilith are actually remarkably fast moving. ^_^

Anyways, Mordecai ignores shields. And my brother, especially, doesn't miss even with a ton of chaos going around. A good mordecai just can't be matched for sheer damage dealing, plus they can handle team ammo regen and +find rare items and various other nice class mods.

I'm still having trouble with Knoxx. On playthrough 1 all the enemies are level 35, which is pitiful. On playthrough two I go down to two shots from an assault rifle (meaning, so damn fast that with a little luck I'm dead before I know I've been hit). So I'm doing another playthrough, after the vault my character should be level 35. And it's still fun, even with Roland who, after respeccing for survival and finding a halfway decent assault rifle, is viable if not great. Badass enemies still give me trouble, I just don't have the firepower to take them down without a two minute battle dodging in and out of cover, trying to keep hitting them enough that their shields can't come back without taking damage.

Which skills are you focusing on? The turret doesn't deal enough damage in PT2. I went for those turret damage skills in PT1, but for PT2 I had to respec for something else.

This will be my Roland with Knoxx...

Those 1 pt skills will probably be swapped around a bit. Assault Rifle is my weapon of choice, using a +80% magazine and +60% fire rate class mod. With turret constantly out I will never run out of bullets, and I can shoot with insane fire rate, killing to get health and shield back in return.

I'm waiting for the 4th DLC to get Knoxx on a disc...

Double anarchy SMG with a rof of 10> and very high x4 explosive makes a good flak cannon to kill birds. Just fire it into the swarm and everything dies. On the ground it's not that useful though. Except the car boss, who sucks.

Is knoxx any good? My pc crashed shortly after I tried underdome and haven't bothered to reinstall it since.

My co-worker got it on 360. He said it's pretty good.

Non-spoily things he told me:
- More levels, but no extension to skill tables.
- New type of treasure chest. It's like a red chest, only with double the item capacity, and often carries good weapons.
- Some enemies are very difficult even at max level (he plays a metal storm/shotgun Roland).
- New weapon modifiers.

I always wanted to try Borderlands, but it never seemed worth spending money on.

It's on sale for $10 on Steam right now.  :D

It's hard to pin down just what exactly it is, but I don't really like Borderlands.  It's cool to start but it quickly grows old.  I didn't even finish it.

I said it several times already: you need to finish borderlands 2 times, before it gets even remotely challenging... and that's stretching it. It's still freakishly easy.

But still, if you want to have fun, you need to do playthrough 2.5.

Chances are... by then, you're sick of borderlands. Paradox, ey.

Sad, really, because it could have been an amazingly fun game, with the longevity of diablo (2). Too bad they screwed it up.

It's too shallow of a RPG and too shallow of a FPS.  It just needed more content/complexity.

I enjoyed it for the loot. That was and remains the best part. As a shooter it's decent, as an RPG it's a little lacking since you start pitifully weak and end up capable of pretty much any build. I liked it, though I wish they had added a kind of roguelike element or some kind of challenge mode beyond playthrough 2.5

Perhaps starting with a save that finished PT1&2 would do it, since you can respec.

They originally said the landscapes would be randomly generated... perhaps they find it technically challenging, or they decided to go with a more RPG-like style so you can have quests and stuff.

Roguelike mode with the most simple way of randomizing maps (ie dungeon made of modules) would have gone a long way.

Starting with a 2.5 savegame sounds like a good idea, but the quality of the weapons you have would make a big difference. Maybe if the provider of the savegame sold everything, waited til "buyback" isnt an option, and you have to, when you start, get your own gear (maybe just a chestrun through new haven or two, or just buying). At any rate, you'd need "self imposed challenges" to make it work.

Long story short, shame about borderlands. It could have been, but it wasnt. Insert smiley shedding a single tear.
