Longbowmen are ok-ish in AoE3, although they get massacred in seconds by cavalry/ artillery/ muskets/ decent hand infantry, come to think of it.  Nope, you need some field guns/ any cannon that does a whole load of damage backing 'em up.

One must wonder what happens when roughly a million arrows fly towards you. One can kill you. The odds of it hitting you is pretty high.

Or you can just hold your bronze shield up and let them ineffectually stick into that, hoping none hit your forearm.

All the shields I've seen cover up the forearm.
I think the biceps/shoulder is a more likely target.
Also, my shield is made of diamond.
Good luck getting through that.
