Mosus, Leader of Cats
« on: July 23, 2009, 11:34:25 pm »

So, I forgot to assign my starter cats to cages this time around, and 3 out of the 4 of them adopted.

All 3 of them chose a dwarf named Mosus Istbarmosus or "Mosus Roserooms".

What specifically makes a cat choose a master, just proximity?

Urist Austin, Axedwarf.  A dwarf barely alive.  Gentledwarves, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic dwarf. Urist Austin will be that dwarf. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.

Typically, they adopt dwarves that like cats, with some exceptions. Check the guy's preferences.

Quote
Mosus Istbarmosus has been happy lately. He talked with a friend lately. He made a friend recently. He adopted a new pet recently. He has been satisfied at work lately. He was disgusted by a miasma lately. He was comforted by a pet lately.
He is a faithful worshipper of Risen Crestcopper.
He is a citizen of the Torch of Angels. He is a member of the Mortal door.
Mosus Istbarmosus likes Alabaster, Pig iron, Milk quartz, war hammers, chains and cats for their aloofness.
He can handle stress. He is unassertive. He prefers familiar routines. He is put off by authority and tradition. He is candid and sincere in dealing with others. He finds immodesty distastefu. He needs alcohol to get through the working day and is starting to work slowly due to its scarcity. He likes working outdoors and grumbles only mildly at incement weather.

He sounds like a closet gay...

I should draft him, give him a war hammer, and lock him in a room full of chained(pig iron chains) cats....

Dwarves that have a preference for cats seem to have the cats adopt them almost instantly. The cat will adopt them as you drag them to the cage or butcher shop.

I abort the game if I have a dwarf that likes cats. It ain't fittin'.

Thanks for that...  now I have the image of Urist McBooger walking up to me with a creepy smile and asking me if I want a "dwarven shower".

Hehe, I'm going to make Mosus a hermit in his own arc shaped cavern. 3 cats should be enough to give him happiness forever. Also, if i build an automatic cat dropper smasher thing, i can use it for fun.

He doesn't even seem too upset about the lack of booze!

You could designate him as the cat progrom czar.  Give him a nice spike lever to pull.

Spike lever pullers, supposedly, get credit for the spike kills.

A miner from one of my older fortresses used to have litterally all the cats in the fort, there were 32 of them Every time there were new kittens he would adopt them as well.

And then I told him to go dig a channel for a controlled cave-in several z levels above ground...Did you know cats like to stand on the other side of the channel? And did you know losing 16 cats at the same time can drive a dwarf insane?(Had no good dining room/only crappy bedrooms)

What kind of statues are your masons making, that you think they have "maximum exposure"?
